TWIST, headlined by multi-lingual vocalist Lua Hadar, plays its own brand of “jazz without borders,” spiced with elements of Latin, pop, funk, and international cabaret. TWIST's mission is to promote world harmony through music. Their October 2008 debut at the Bangkok International Festival of Dance & Music began that road, at the Thailand Cultural Center in Bangkok, Thailand, to a packed house and record CD sales at intermission. Reviews on the CD from all over the USA and as far as Poland, Germany, Sweden and the UK confirm the broad appeal of the sound. Lua's warmth and humor have won over audiences and critics around the world. RADIO TOP 10 Ratings in 2009 to date: KZSM in Santa Cruz, KAFM in Colorado, WEFT in Illinois, WMTU in Michigan, on lists with Charlie Parker, McCoy Tyner, Sonny Rollins, Chick Corea, Joshua Redman, Jacqui Naylor, Jane Monheit and Elaine Elias.
Hadar’s love for The Great American Songbook, her appreciation for new songwriting, and her fascination with world cultures influence her music. A unique and original vocalist with a soaring range, Lua interprets lyrics in several languages with a charming, swinging delivery.

TWIST's repertoire and style, based on American jazz, draws also from international standards and songs about our common humanity. Reviewer Michael Arens, of Jazz Dimensions Germany, wrote just recently: She makes the other side of the world seem just a stone’s throw away…
LUA HADAR with TWIST debuted their latest CD (Lua Hadar with TWIST) in a historic jazz neighborhood at New York’s Iridium Jazz Club. Here's a quote from the first New York review:
… a stunning evening…sheer beauty… every selection was dramatically on the nose…she rocked… her physical presence and body language remind one of the great Latin, Abbe Lane, at her peak. The evening was pure pleasure!
- Joe Regan Jr. Cabaret Scenes Magazine, New York
The band performed the West Coast premiere on May 29, one of the last bands to perform at San Francisco's historic North Beach jazz spot, Jazz at Pearl's, with 2 shows full of enthusiastic audience members, while the CDs flew out the door. In July 2009, Lua performed at the swank Swan Bar in Paris, France, in an evening of American jazz and international standards, with New York pianist Sheldon Forrest at the keys. This was followed in September by a smashing debut of her new show, French Connection, at the Rrazz Room at the Hotel Nikko San Francisco.
When not touring, Lua Hadar and TWIST are based in San Francisco, appearing on the vibrant entertainment scene there and in Los Angeles. Lua is very active in the San Francisco Bay Area as a performing arts consultant and mentor and serves on the Arts Education Master Plan Advisory Board of the San Francisco Unified School District, as well as on the Advisory Board of Powerful Women International. She maintains a private Vocal Studio where she trains professional singers and actors.
