The story of lubay has begun in the mid 80's. The most influencing was the simple truth: DO YOUR OWN THING! spread out to the public through the voice of Isaac Hayes once upon a time. Unable to find totally satisfactory music within the realm of the sound available, lubay has begun to create his own. And he does it still...
The RedActors - the punk band freshing up the right-bank Warsaw rebel scene that days - was the first band, lubay has put his hands on. By the time the band has gone towards some more soulful sounds, including reggae and funk. Meanwhile lubay launched his own project - The Melkior a reggae band, which made its coming-out together with the legendary OK System, the original roots band of Mr. Reggaenerator founder-member of Vavamuffin.
1989 lubay has decided to left his country of origin and went on May 8th to Vienna, Austria for the new challenge.
The years spent outside the homeland scene wasn't for nothing. Lubay created some new projects abroad and tried new sound technologies. Acting as band member of a experimental post-rock band JFK or as a dj lubay.
After his come back in 1996 he was completely up-to-date with the other band members he left years ago. The new band has been called Transmisja and made some respectable noise in the late 90's, driving the road to some new sounds of the future. Some say it was very influential...
Soon, as lubay came back for good to his original roots, the first solo material has been released ("Simple Pleasures" home+soul, 1996). The album made entirely at home, conceived and performed up to the graphical design by himself. After his album debut, lubay worked hard on several other projects, resulting in some recorded albums or just remembered shows. One of them, the project called "In the way of Anna" has been made with the utmost respected contribution of the great Wislawa Szymborska, who's original recitations of her own poetry made it up to an extraordinary EP (released first 2008).
The next interesting field of lubay's work was the experimental live audio-video ensemble, the BeatPixel a fully improvised multimedia live-act, consisting of VJ sw_jerzy improvising on video-material and lubay layering soundscapes over it (eg. the legendary Le Madame show?).
Lubay has also contributed his hands on turning-up the acclaimed PIEKARNIA club. Asked to start up the place as home-dj by the former co-owner Jarek Gula (now the mastermind of the legendary CDQ club) , lubay devoted a whole year to the club's warm-up, playing out of his own soul & heart for the community every weekend (incl. the legendary, club's first 1999 New Year's celebration).
The years around the millennium break put lubay into the new field of activity: the graphical design and video works. He devoted himself to visual projects: logotypes, web designs, flash animations and video works. The new challenge has found its way into his heart, revealing natural potentials in the new areas of creativity.
The last years have been the most productive, spent almost entirely playing live, coming back to the old roots, creating new approach to his eternal favourites: dub & reggae & improvised sounds. Besides, lubay produced a couple of remixes which can be heard from the records of befriended bands (e.g. Vavamuffin, KERD, etc.) and some others, featuring also internationally known bands, such as: Depeche Mode, System of a Down, etc.
The newest projects include a new fusion project and a entirely new band called by the name of the legendary club, where the Warsaw-based most influential musicians have gathered for years for marvellous jam sessions and out-of-this-world-improvisations ...Czarny Lew (@ myspace) or official web site: Czarny Lew.
After over one year and several songs, Czarny Lew has been disbanded, due to personal matters. Nevertheless the band's legacy can still be heard among the eternal void of internet resources and hearts of fans. Thank You All!
Completely new field of lubay's activity is television. Lubay has been asked to be the editor-in-chief of one of a tv programme. The new challange has pushed him finally to start finalizing a script, which has been started years ago.
The new project Lubay joined in is befriended band of SEDATIVA, driven by a group of long-time local fellows.
After a successful appearance at the 1st Theatre Gathering InNOWICA 2008 (together with the SAO Theatre), lubay has been asked to contribute to the upcoming event in 2009 (music & video works).
