I was born in Turin, Italy, in 1975, the year Bob Dylan released “Blood on the Tracks” considered one of his best albums. At the age of 12 I decided to dedicate my life to what kept me out of trouble and made me the man I am today: drumming. I learned my rudiments at the Arte Musica Jungle with Mario Bracco and Vito Miccolis in Turin and played with the Italian band, Amoniaka, for 10 years performing 100s of shows with names like Raw Power, Linea77, Statuto, and this until I moved to London. Since then I have been involved in many projects, played all around the UK and in most part of Europe, from France to Latvia, sharing stages with some great musicians: Pete Doherty, Deerhoof, Cardiacs, Peter Wolfe, Reuben, Skinny Man, King Prawns are just few of them.
I have also been involved in theatre music projects like UFO (with music from Little Shop of Horrors, The Horror Picture Show and Evil Dead), DISCO INFERNO, etc.
Today I study Music Performance (Bmus) at Drumtech in London. I feel fortunate to be taught by international artists like Darryn Farrugia, Erik Stams, Giuseppe Grondona and many other big names in the music industry like John Cook (Ozzy Osbourne), Andrew McKinney (James Taylor Quartet) and have sat in the same room with people like Dave Weckl, Jojo Mayer, Billy Cobhan and Hernandez "El Negro".
Today I drum for the signed band CalatrilloZ
To expand my drumming repertoire I am also very much into taking part in short-term projects like one off gig or studio session, so do not hesitate to send me an e-mail if you need my help!
I'm proud to offer you "Heavy In The Beats Vol. 1 - A Different Drum", the first installment in my FREE mixtape series dedicated to drums and percussion. "Volume 1" focuses on the avant garde side of the instrument, and features pieces from Billy Martin (of Medeski Martin & Wood), myself, and others!
Thanks for the friendship and the great music Luca. Hope to see/hear you sometime. Matt The Catweazle Club "Britain's most intimate performance space" - The TIMES
