My favourite real life author is Lorenzo Carcaterra. He wrote "Sleepers", which was made into a movie, but the movie doesn't do it justice. Read the book.
... I worship most of the writers on FictionPress.com. There are too many good ones to choose from. So I decided to become polytheistic. That way I can worship them ALL as the gods/goddess they are. Heh, I kid, but they are pretty wonderful.
I don't read as many real books as I used to. I read a ton of stories on fictionpress.com, though. The best books aren't always published, in my opinion.
Comics, though... I'm just now getting into them (how sad is that, at sixteen?), but I love them so far. Mainly Jhonen Vasquez (his link is under "Who I'd Like To Meet"), but also some Roman Dirge, Tommy Kovac, Ian Carney, Jonathan Edwards, stuff like that.
