So, here it is at last! The elusive album I've told you about for so long! It took forever to do and has taken me tears, fears and Heineken beers to get to finished. I'm as proud as can be with it. As you know I was signed to Island Records and was contracted to write an album of songs, not dance songs, buts songs that were 100% me, so this, I suppose, is an extension of Portobella as it's more song based, more band based. I took it to Island Records and they loved it. They said, 'Yeah, we think you're fabulous and we love your songs but right now it's gonna cost us too much money to to put it out, so instead, can we, if you don't mind, give your first, second and third single to Sugababes, Gabrielle Cilmi?' So here am I, in the meeting, thinking, 'Hang on a fucking minute, I'm here, I'm signed to you and I'm ready to go and you're sitting here asking me to give my album away?!!' I was so mortified and embarrassed and cried in the meeting. As a result of that I said to my manager, 'If Island Records aren't gonna do anything with me, let me go!!! Give me my songs back and let me go!!!!' Eventually Island gave me my songs back and I cried for a couple of weeks thinking, I want to be a cleaner and just not worry, just get on with my life and accept that maybe things happen for a reason and maybe this wasn't supposed to happen! So after tears, feeling lost and confused and generally fucked off with the whole industry my writing partner Nick Clow and I decided to take matters into our own hands. As a result we came up with the idea of putting 5 tracks from the album on MySpace for you guys to listen to and see what you think. We've worked really hard on this and I think it's the best thing I've ever done. It's different from the dance stuff, written more organically with bridges and middle eights which as a song writer is a joy to write because you get to be free in your melody. So here is... what we've worked our bollocks off for. I love it! It's my heart and I've put everything into it. As George Michael said, 'Listen without prejudice,' and don't expect it to be a certain way, just enjoy it for what it is...and if you don't like it.......just turn it off!!! No worries. Thanks so much to everyone who have written messages and made me happy whilst I was doubting why I was ever doing this! I'm a songwriter and an artist and this is just another side of me where I get to be more me. I really hope you like it and I'm thankful to you all for standing by me during this doubtful time. Hey guys! After a year and a half we are back charging full steam ahead with the release of our latest album "Songs For The Road Towards The End Of The World" this past May 31, 2009. Unlike our two previous releases this was a long duration album (LP) featuring 12 all created by Pete Drown. Mike Mellow participated in the album by co-producing it and creating the art. The first single is called "Ciento Once Grados" (111 Degrees) and we have a brief video/slideshow teaser for it on our page.
