LUCIANA MELLO
For Luciana Mello, being on the stage is like being at home. And we’re talking about dance stages, music stages, TV stages and concert stages.
At the age of 5, she used to perform on TV shows with her father, Jair Rodrigues. From there on, Luciana participated in many albums for children and later, already a teenager, recorded album with her brother, Jairzinho. Luciana studied theatre for 4 years (she took part in several musicals like The King and I, Blood Wedding, Pocket Broadway and many more), dance for more than 20 years and still studies music (with special focus on singing and vocal arranging).
In 1995, when she was 16 years old, Luciana launched her first solo album, entitled “LUCIANA RODRIGUES”. It was produced by Iranfe Maciel and featured a special guest appearance by the great Brazilian singer Emilio Santiago.
In 1998, in São Paulo, the show PROJETO ARTISTAS REUNIDOS was first recorded, and on the same year the music label Trama appeared on the scene. For almost 2 years she took part in a project called Artistas Reunidos (Artists United), with Jair Oliveira, Wilson Simoninha, Max de Castro, Daniel Carlomagno e Pedro Mariano, inviting special guests/friends like Jair Rodrigues (her father), Djavan, Ed Motta, Claudio Zoli, Sandra de Sa and Vicente Barreto, among others.
Luciana’s second album, ‘ASSIM QUE SE FAZ' (This Is How To It), was launched by Trama in the year 2000, with hits that included the big ones Assim Que Se Faz, Simples Desejo, Se, Calados, among others. This album was a huge success and a “boom” in her career!
In 2002 Luciana is signed to major label Universal Music and launches ‘OLHA PRA MIM’ album, produced by her brother Jair Oliveira. This work brings for the first time songs written by Luciana and her brother. It has 2 re-mixes as bonus tracks that became great hits in clubs all around Brazil. ‘OLHA PRA MIM’ also features special guests Ed Motta and Pedro Mariano.
Her 4th album, the acclaimed, ‘L.M’ (2004), features great songs that mix samba, ballads and dance music. The concept, music quality and beauty of Luciana Mello are turning her into one of the most prestigious young MPB singers in Brazil.
For three years, Luciana dedicated herself to conceiving her 5th and latest album, “NÊGA”, with researches for repertoire and grooves. Among the highlights, a song composed in partnership with her brother, “Na Veia da Nêga”, Lágrimas de Diamantes” (by Paulinho Moska) and a new version for the show man Wilson Simonal’s classic “Galha do Cajueiro”, by Tião Motorista. Produced by her brother Jair Oliveira and released by record label “S de Samba”, the album showcases the maturity of the young and beautiful 29 year-old fabulous singer and songwriter through Sambas, romantic ballads and funky songs, influenced by different rhythms from Black music such as Soul, Groove and Rap.
Luciana Mello is here to shine and ennoble music with her strong and sweet voice, talent and sympathy. Luciana’s time is now!
