Influences to my Music:
My style of music goes from Alanis Morrisette, to Sarah Mclachlan (Who I saw in concert at Key Arena- MAN!! What a voice!) To Evanescence,(Though the new album only has a few good songs dammit!!) to Brian Adams (I love the way he writes), Lorenna McKennett,
Other Music that I listen to:
Ella Fitzgerald, Nat King Cole, Nickelback, Nine Inch Nails, (Everything but his naaaaaaaaaaaaasty songs)Sickpuppies
(www.sickpuppies.net) and anything pretty much but country although I do like Martina McBride but HATE the twangy guitars...
Sounds Like
A lot of people tell me I sound like Alanis Morresette, but the temperment of the music is more like Sarah McLachlan.
I'm on Indie Music...Come visit me!
How I started..
Been singing all sorts of music since knee high.
For the last couple of years I was experimenting with a hard rock band as the lead singer and songwriter (Guitarist did riffs and I add melody and lyrics (see Mirrorstone). Its was lot of fun, but in the end, this is where my heart really is, and always has been.
(Update)
I had to quit mirrorstone in Jan of 2008 because I felt I was holding them back because of my religious decision to not do anything on Sunday. Studio 7 called and asked us if we would be in "Battle Of The Bands" on Sunday, and other things came up where it was a problem, so I told them that I had to leave because again, I felt I was holding them back. I had met them through a Craigslist add I had posted and we had all been together 4 years, so as one of the guys said "It felt like the little family was breaking up". Loved doing it, just knew I couldn't anymore.
What my music is all about...
My experiences and influences in life. Covering a wide range... From abuse; self esteme; and the innermost id, to Joan of Arc; and small stints of goofyness!:b
Where I'm going
At this moment I'm working with my vocal coach (Rob) who has suggested on getting a producer he works with to get a number of my songs put together (Almost 30 of them, I'll take a few bites out of it at a time.) and out there.
(And on here!)
Your Personality is Somewhat Rare (ENFP)
Your personality type is enthusiastic, giving, cautious, and loyal.
Only about 8% of all people have your personality, including 9% of all women and 6% of all men
You are Extroverted, Intuitive, Feeling, and Perceiving.
You are understanding and very empathetic.
You don't tend to have acquaintances. Everyone is your friend.
And all of your friends tend to be friends. You have a knack for bringing very different people together.
You're living proof that chicks can rock
You're inspired by Joan Jett and the Donnas
And when you rock, you rock hard
(Plus, you get all the cute guy groupies you want!)
My sphere is Guardian (Person of great Love and Altruism), and my class is Champion (Self-Righteous and Confident).
I am a Hero.
You are true heroic material. You find great motivation in the things you love, and great inspiration in your sense of self-confidence, and your excellence. Once you get your mind set on a goal, you are nearly unstoppable, and given enough time, you will meet it.
"It is cruel, you know, that music should be so beautiful. It has the beauty of loneliness, of pain: of strength and freedom. The beauty of disappointment and never-satisfied love. The cruel beauty of nature and everlasting beauty of monotony." ~Benjamin Britten
I hope whatever you are listening to, you are cranking it! Karen :)
I noticed under "birthdays" from today, there was a man named Karl Von Clausewitz who was a soldier born today in 1780. I am always amazed when quotes from hundreds of years ago still hold up even today;
"Pursue one great decisive aim with force and determination."
I think we are all just striving to multi-task our days that it can be difficult to really focus our work towards an effort that is a passion of ours. But I suppose there comes a wonderful reward just by simply diving into what really sparks our interest.
I hope you are finding the time in the craziness of life to explore what you are truly passionate about! Karen :)
That's Jenn; the woman of my dreams... literally. I've been seeing her in my dreams for about 3 years now, and even wrote her into my book IN those dreams. We met through a mutual friend at a dance club after we'd both thought the other wasn't really interested. My jaw dropped on the fucking table when she sat down; LITERALLY!!! XD We've been together almost 5 months now, and are living together. She's finishing her degree, and I'm helping support her 'till she's got it.

I was reading several quotes today from Anne Frank...and I was amazed at her positive attitude in most of them despite the fact she spent time hiding during the WW2 German Occupation of the Netherlands and was also in the concentration camps.
How can someone experience what she did still have an ounce of optimism?
I thought I'd share this with you, as it inspired me today;
Not only did she say, "Despite everything, I believe people are really good at heart." But I saw this quote; "I don't think of all the misery but of the beauty that still remains." ~Anne Frank
I can't possibly see the bad in anything after reading those.
