Lucky Number Nine Records is a wee independent imprint based in Glasgow, Scotland. It was started by Stevie and Dave in the summer of 2006 with the first release coming in Sept '07. Our last few records have been put out in conjunction with our friends at Say Dirty. There's more to read at www.luckynumbernine.co.uk, if you would like to read more.
RECORD PLAYER
We have a record player on our website - www.luckynumbernine.co.uk - that holds more songs from our back catalogue. Give it a visit to hear tracks that don't feature on this myspace page, including four tracks from RAGS & FEATHERS debut album, more from THE METRO-GNOMES and B-sides from all our releases.
THE METRO-GNOMES
Our first release is a six-track EP by The Metro-gnomes (Mark Rafferty, Andrea Tomlinson). It is available on CD and double 7" vinyl. Here's the tracklisting:
I Should've Known
If Only I
Just A Memory
Words Unspoken
One Man Show
Real Sweet Talker
SEVEN INCH CLUB
We've started a singles club. We are going to release nine 7” vinyl singles with nine different artists. Each run will be limited edition with every single stamped and numbered. They will also include a postcard and a CD-R with the songs so that you can stick them on your computer, i-pod or whatever. The following releases from this series are available from our online store now:
Seven Inch Club 1 by the excellent GOLDEN GHOST (NYC) contains the tracks ‘The Orca & The Eskimo’ and ‘O…Sun!’.
Seven Inch Club 2 by SYMBOLICS is the AA side 'Social Dancing'/'Kisses Sweeter Than Tonic Wine'. The CD-R with this release also contains music videos for both songs.
Seven Inch Club 3 is an EP by the amazingly talented MIKE HASTINGS (The Pendulums), accompanied on fiddle by SOLVEIG ASKVIK (The Pendulums, Lucky Luke). It features four songs - 'Spiral', 'Gryphon', 'Morning Tea', 'Small Horses'.
Seven Inch Club 4 is a single from our favourite band - PUNCH & THE APOSTLES. The A-side is 'Asylum' and it's backed with the epic 'Tie Me To The Mast'.
Seven Inch Club 5 is by ZOEY VAN GOEY. It is available on 7" and as a digital download. The vinyl tracks are 'Sweethearts In Disguise' and 'Lick A 99 (Funkspiel Remix)', the download tracks are 'Sweethearts in Disguise' and 'Lick A 99 (Chris 'Beans' Geddes Remix)'. There are also 150 7" / CD-R combos which are only available at the bands gigs - the CD-R contains all 3 tracks. No postcard with this one I'm afraid but you do get a full colour sleeve for your money (fancy!). This is a joint release with our good friends at Say Dirty Records.
SIC 6 is an lovely split 7" featuring tracks from WAKE THE PRESIDENT and JE SUIS ANIMAL. JSA have contributed 'Fortune Map' from their outstanding debut album 'Self-taught Magic From A Book' (available now from Angular Records) while WtP have chosen 'Miss Tierney' from their critically acclaimed record 'You Can't Change That Boy' (Electric Honey Records). This is a co-release with Electric Honey and has a beautifully designed sleeve courtesy of Kris Bladh.
SIC 7 comes from the lady led pop phenomenon that is PETER PARKER. It features the undeniably catchy 'Swallow the Rockets' (how do they get that guitar sound?) and the cowbell infused 'Temper Temper'. This is another co-release with the handsome boys from Say Dirty Records and will be available in all good record stores and download sites from July 6th 2009.
Anyone interested in contributing to the series should send demos to the address listed on our website.

RAGS & FEATHERS
We are delighted to announce the release of RAGS & FEATHERS debut album, 10 tracks of folky, country, pop lovlieness entitled 'THE OTHER SIDE OF MORNING'. It is available on LP, CD & Digital Download from all good indie record stores and major download sites.
"WOW now here is an exciting band... this is downbeat, low key Velvet Underground-style country and western songwriting that just gets better and better with repeated listens... as warm as The Waltons' kitchen... Incredible stuff." - Rick Fulton / Daily Record
"...a perfect example of country soaked folk-pop... Lush vocal harmonies that will make you melt with lyrics to match... Tom Davis will warm your soul with his literary musings and lush arrangements... 4 stars" - Leigh Rafferty / Is This Music?
"best new band I've heard this year" - Simple Folk Radio
"...just sit back and let the music unhinge the doors of your mind...an impressive first release from established Glasgow musicians... 5 stars" - Bluesbunny Independent Music Reviews
"...full of lush, folky arrangements and a hint of Gram Parsons' country sound..." - The List
"... (a) new release definately worth getting your hands on... " - The Pop Cop
PUNCH & THE APOSTLES
Following the success of 'Asylum', their outstanding contribution to our Seven Inch Club series, we are exited to announce the release of Punch & the Apostles new single 'I'm A Hobo / Can Of Beans'.
It's available as a 7" single and digital download from all good record stores and major download sites.
" a lovely slice of voodoo jazz punk... or something like that" - Vic Galloway / BBC Radio Scotland / One (We couldn't have said it better ourselves)
" One of the best live bands (in Scotland)... I'm A Hobo starts with a New York-dripped solo sax before a rhythm kicks in that will make you dance like Jim Carrey in The Mask... Can of Beans is a frenetic new wave sound scape with funk beats and ends in the crazy brain world of Frank Zappa... A double knockout" - Rick Fulton / The Daily Record
" Starting off all nice and jazzy (for about 10 seconds…), 'I'm A Hobo' manages to wrong foot you. Not jazz, you say, I'm just not made for jazz. Then the thunderous drums kick in and all hell breaks loose as the cataclysm of sound escapes from the speakers like the entire US Navy had decided to do show tunes instead of mass destruction. But there's more. A mournful break - like Elvis goes country - then time for a quick splash of insane guitar before the song tears off into the distance like a runaway train.
'Can of Beans' is a bit tamer. More conventionally jazzy - well, more conventionally jazzy in a David Byrne kind of way really. No shortage of energy here either, that's for sure.
It's safe to say that I liked this one a lot... 5 stars (well, carrots)" - Bluesbunny

Hey Lucky Number Nine Records, Cities crumble, skies ignite spontaneously in your presence. You turn the atmosphere ablaze with currents of sweet ethylene when you smile. I desire to see life through your hallucinations so that they massage my viscera into an eternal state of turgid flux. Your beauty is multiplexed in contemplation of your multidimensional effervescence. Your eyes show as many deep and full shades of fire as a thousand supernovas. The sand runes crossing your divided consciousness do speak of contemptuous monsters being slayed by flying phoenixes. How it passes there and back again like a tear drop glistening in moonlight. In your absence I am forced into finding other forms of amusement while thinking about you. Your essence is equal to the beauty of a galaxy. Your wonderfully bright soul keep the demons from torturing me. Polished rock candy comes ever to mind when thinking of you. Your beauty is equal to the smoothness of a polished gem. A starfish's lifelong hallucinations of gelatin pools and of actuaries floating upon the foam and reciprocal ohm.
