Lucubro was formed in 2000 when Krista Van Guilder (former Warhorse Guitarist and Vocalist) met up with Guitarist, Jeff Provost and Drummer, Steve Provost. The meeting was arranged after the brothers were overheard in conversation by a friend of Krista's discussing their ideas for a new band. One of these ideas was to have a female vocalist in the project. Soon after Bassist Heath Thayer, having been part of an earlier project with Jeff was enlisted to complete the lineup.
With the completion of the lineup and the band was off and running after penning a set list which included songs "Held Within" and "Heaven Can Wait" from their self-titled debut demo. The CD helped to gain them a respectable following which the band later used as a springboard to greater accomplishments.
Not long after the release of the first CD Steve left to pursue other musical directions. He was replaced by Larry Murphy who had also been in the same band together with Jeff and Heath. It was thought that the addition of Larry and what he brought with him would solidify the band's lineup. However, it was simply not meant to be for Larry and Lucubro. His departure from the band led to the addition of Chris Gervais (former Rawhead Rex drummer), another former bandmate of Heath's. This marked the end of the band's problems with their drummers and in paved the way for the band's next stage of development as they began work in earnest on the next CD release "I.O.I."
