Lucy: English feminine form of Lucius, Roman praenomen, or given name, which was derived from Latin lux "light". Two Etruscan kings of early Rome had this name as well as several prominent later Romans, including Lucius Annaeus Seneca (known simply as Seneca), a famous statesman, philosopher, orator and tragedian. Also, three popes have borne this name.

This space is dedicated to the best band on the planet: The Lucy Nation. It has been created by Christina and Phil, originally from Michigan, USA. Being the rebellious youth that we were, we discovered the Lucy Nation when we stole a ..complementary.. CD from inside a magazine. The CD had about 20 songs on it. There were a few good ones, but nothing compared to the second to last song: ..Alright... For us the song symbolizes the last days of our care-free youth, warm summer nights and believing that we have our whole lives to do great things. After falling in love with ..Alright.. we searched everywhere for their album, but to no avail. It was never released. We managed to find a few songs on the internet, but it never was, nor is it now enough to crave our thirst for hearing more of the band. We created this space to spread word of the band in the hopes that they will one day release an album. Please become our friend and share any comments or any information you may have on the Lucy Nation.
Alternative pop duo the Lucy Nation teamed Swedish-born vocalist Anna Nystrom and Brit bassist Andy Cousin, an alumnus of Eighties-era goth-rockers All About Eve. Signing with Maverick Records, the group landed their single "Alright" on the soundtrack of the 1999 comedy smash Austin Powers: The Spy Who Shagged Me.
Interview with Frank Jaro on30 November 2000- This sheds some light on why no one can find the Lucy Nation..s CD.
Q-You also played guitar on the Lucy Nation album, is that right ?
A-I did, the album never got released. There's been problems at the record company, and they ended up parting ways with Maverick. It was all recorded, it was mixed, and we were on the "Austin Powers 2" soundtrack [with 'Alright']. They are currently talking to new labels. It does mean re-recording a new album, as Maverick own the rights to that album. We've recorded 3 or 4 Lucy Nation songs in the last 3 months which will be used on a new album, with a new label. Maverick don't own the songs, but they own the recordings. If Andy wants to use any of the last 12 songs we recorded, he'd have to re-record it again. I don't understand why a label can finance a whole album and then not bother releasing it. It's a very good album. It's like a hybrid of Massive Attack, Bj..rk and PJ Harvey, very experimental.
