Influences
Sandy Denny, Janis Joplin, Janis Ian, June Tabor, Kate Rusby, Richard Thompson, Eva Cassidy, Eliza Carthy; the list goes on. I am influenced by pretty much anyone who is able to deliver a song with true passion and sensitivity.
Sounds Like
I'm very honoured to say I have been likened to Sandy Denny, and Eva Cassidy. But if you think acoustic, girl and guitar you'll know my sound!
It started when she reached the Finals of the BBC Young Folk Musician Awards and sang in front of 900 people at the Queen Elizabeth Hall in London. It moved forward via festivals and support spots for such folk luminaries as Jim Moray, Tams & Coope and Harvey Andrews.
It has culminated in a fantastic performance to a six hundred strong audience supporting Seth Lakeman in Chesterfield in October this year. Future bookings include support spots for Mawkin Causley, Jez Lowe, Phil Beer and Dave Swarbrick.
Lucy is a 19 year old acoustic artist from Derby. She plays guitar but considers voice to be her first instrument and has been performing regularly since she was 14.
Her sets are an eclectic mix of traditional and modern folk interpretations, interspersed with her own songs.
There is a natural and easy sound to her music that is brought to life by expressive performance and breath-taking delivery.
Lucy has the ability to still an audience with the strength and purity of her voice, which she uses to great effect on the unaccompanied songs that sprinkle her set.
She has developed into a fine young song writer and a consummate performer who wows her audience with her genuine and sparkling personality and her stunning voice.
