The only thing I am going to post here finally are some lovely comments left on Nick Dow's Radio Lancashire Website about me really recently that really made me smile; I felt honoured:
Martin Byrom Hi NickI recently witnessed a performance by a 16 year old Burnley lass called Lucy Zirins playing some fabulous slide guitar outside the tourist information kiosk at the Boundary Mill in Colne. It was a promotional exercise for the Colne festival, where she's due to play at The Crown on the Monday night. She sounded terrific. As a programme that costantly champions Lancashire blues talent is there any chance of getting her to do a live session on your programme beforehand? She has her own website www.myspace.com/lucyzirins
Harpy Martin Byrom has spotted a phenomonal new talent - at last some good news coming out of Burnley. Check LUCY ZIRINS out, she is wicked. She's just been to a week of slide guitar lessons with Michal Messer at EuroBlues 2008 and has a few gigs on the fringe at Colne this weekend
LUCY ZIRINS IS AVAILABLE FOR ANY BOOKINGS

"A very talented young singer/songwriter who combines the raw energy of blues with sweet soul melodies..." - http://www.theworldonyourdoorstep.org/woyd
Thought this needed an update so here goes...
I'm Lucy Zirins and I'm a singer/songwriter. I play bits of everything, folk, jazz stuff, soul, but my main thing? Blues. Nothing else like it in the world.
Mainly I've always played acoustic guitar and I sung, but I've developed a passion for slide guitar which I'm playing more and more of now, it's become a bit of an obsession to be honest which is going to continue forever I think haha! I really feel like I've found my thing with it, but infact I've found my thing with every kind of music I play in general, it's in my soul; it's what I was born and plan to do for the rest of my life. I have just recorded my 10 track demo which you can hear samples from 4 tracks of on here, and I'm hoping that when it's packaged I will be able to sell it too, so keep checking up on here for details of that.
I also play electric guitar with a fondness for chicago style blues, and am planning to do something with that soon so keep your ears open!
Ahh,, I just want to play music ya know? It's all I want to do. I'm extremely passionate about it and performing.
I sang for the first time properly when I was in primary school and I got the lead role in my school's Christmas production of "Babooshka". I absolutely adored being on stage and singing to people. I think there's not a day gone by when I haven't sung since! =]
I started playing guitar about four years ago when my Uncle Chris died. The acoustic guitar I own was his - he played accordian and was learning guitar. When they cleared out his stuff, they found it and a load of music books. When asked if I wanted it, I said yes straight away and taught myself to play to keep his memory alive. It was my way of making a good thing out of a bad situation.
I took to it quickly and soon was jamming every day, and I've never looked back. Because of his death I learnt to play and I developed an overwhelming passion for music like I'd never had before. He made music a part of me and for that I owe him a lot. RIP x
"Where Did You Go?" Is a song I wrote and I've dedicated to him. I'd love it if you listened to it. <3
...So, I have been playing slide guitar for around 8 months now, and received the Sam Mitchell scholarship for slide guitar this year at Blues Week 2008. I was fortunate enough to be able to learn, play and talk to with some of the most incredible musicians such as Michael Messer, and this had a massive impact on me, so for that I am truly thankful, expecially to Tim who paid for my scholarship.x
Overall, I'd love to be able to write songs that make an impact on people and my aim is to play with as many different people as I can in my lifetime. I wanna be the best songwriter and player I can be and I'm gonna put everything into achieving it.
I want people to stop and listen to my music and have it affect them like music affects me.
I love it so much
and there aren't enough words to even show that.
So! Go listen to the tunes, and hopefully even if I can't express how much I truly love music, you'll be able to hear it =]
Thanks for reading
Lucy

Amazing Japanese hot string band playing 1920's, 30's, 40's style hawaiian, swing, calypso, blues, italian music and originals, featuring vintage instruments.3 songs with Robert Armstrong and Tony Marcus(from Robert Crumb and His Cheap Suit Serenaders)
"The Sweet Hollywaiians have probably the best feel for this 20's music of any string band working today. They manage the rare feat of sounding relaxed even when their playing is hot, are top notch musicians with tasteful arrangements and a full, rich, warm sound.Plus, they have a nice gamut of tunes, from King Nawahi to Giovanni Vicari to Bobby Leecan. See them live, if you can, for an unforgettable experience. If you can't, buy their Cds!" ~ Terry Zwigoff
