To
listen: All the cats above plus a few more, as well as many classical composers,
the French impressionists, blues, folk music (both American and Brazilian),
celtic music; Portuguese fado, boleros and all Latin rhythms, Beatles, Pink
Floyd, James Taylor, G. Gershwin, C. Porter, H. Mancini, B. Bacharah, John

"All I want is
to have my own voice, find that perfect melody or progression and most
of all, have the most beautiful tone. For me, music is not a way of displaying
my motor skills, neither to show off how many years I spent studying.
When I play or compose, I try to make a statement and each note must have
a meaning... I can be very emotional, but I am quite introspective as
well, so my music reflects that side and you will not find over-the-top
sentimentalism either."

Come join the celebration over the release of our new CD – Boteco!!
‘Boteco’ is an artful mixture of neo-futuristic traditional Brazilian rhythms with the right quantity of the best North American spices. It is funk and rock boiling and baking with samba, maracatu, frevo and baiao.
Put Pele and Mohammed Ali in a fictional mix machine. Now add Frank Zappa, Sergio Mendes, Tom Jobim and Roger Waters and fused in to one. What a mix eh? Bat Makumba is this fusion, multiplied by 2.
CD Release Parties: 11/06 Moe’s Alley – Santa Cruz, CA 11/07 The Old Ironsides – Sacramento, CA 11/13 The Great American Music Hall – San Francisco, CA 11/21 Stage Door – Mount Shasta, CA 12/04 Harp Inn – Costa Mesa, CA 12/05 Santa Monica Bar & Grille – Santa Monica, CA ...more to come

Lufe - Mssr. Paul Gauguin in his lifetime quoted: "I close my eyes to see" ... Now can you imagine if he had headphones on and listening to say --- A Metheny Ballad? : )
Thanks for connecting with my thoughts my friend ... it means a lot especially coming from you.
You will never ever forget that Lufe ... Like I will never ever forget that Sad December Day: I was in a bookstore when I came across an article in front of a Chicago paper saying: "Girl From Ipanema Says Goodbye" ... I was stunned and had to run to my car.
The Maestro, he was such a beautiful person, a symbol of all beautiful things Brasileiro. He made some "gentle people" --- Yes! He made GENTLE PEOPLE ... just like a God.
Lufe my friend ... Wow, I am transfixed listening to your take of PASSARIM ... You need to know this song by heart to be able to play it the way you did --- I do, and all the notes are intact ... you amaze me, it's not an easy piece to play especially when jumps like that are so exposed ... just "wow" my friend.
Rodrigo.
