°Foreign Exchange Students---past, present, and future. My exchange (*note, not a semester abroad; however, total immersion in another culture, away from all that speak English) was great, and I'd do it again, and

°°°Hmm...interests... many here, and many more, let's just say, I'm interesting.
Music
..
I listen to it all.
ANYTHING

Country
International Anything
NPR (okay, not music, but my usual station)
Opera
Rock
Techno
Tejano
Specific bands:
-Gyllena Tider
-Incubus
-Nickleback
-Tegan and Sara
-Trapt
-Chris Pureka
-Sarah Betten
-Linkin Park
-Staind
-Nirvana
-Pearl Jam

-tons and tons more...
Movies
..Meet Joe Black, Fucking Amal (it's called Show Me Love in English---yeah, shitty translation), Prey For Rock and Roll, and many more...I like a wide range, historical drama, drama, romance, comedy, horror, action, foreign, sundance, etc...
Television
..
hmmm, good question, I prefer listening to NPR
Okay, as dorky and nerdy as ever, I don't have time for television. Considering that our minds are more active during sleep than when we watch tv, I'd rather sleep, or listen to the radio.
Thanks to an old roomie, I've since gotten hooked on Ugly Betty and Grey's Anatomy. Bones is an all time favorite (b/c anthropology rocks). Though, I usually miss their airing because I'm out, playing hockey or visiting with friends.
Oh, and remember, I love sports. Therefore, October is my all time favorite month---not to mention autumn is the best! But yes, baseball, hockey, basketball, AND football all going on at the same time. If I'm not playing, I'm watching. ;)
Books
..
Herman Hesse's Narcissus and Goldmund
Herman Hesse in general (all time favorite author)
Shakespeare's Hamlet
Shakespeare in general
Green Eggs and Ham
The Well of Lonliness
A Separate Peace
Ulyssess by James Joyce
Joyce in general
Thomas Hardy
Ernest Hemingway
Gertrude Stein
Virginia Woolf
Sarah Walters
Vita Sackville-West
Anything that is still in print 50 years later...while I'm missing out on a lot of stuff that has been written recently, I'll read it when I'm 70---point being, if it can stand the test of time, then it deserves my time.
Heroes
..
The men and women I serve, they in turn protect our rights to say they suck.
Irena Sendler --- if you don't know why, look her up.
Anybody that has defeated a nemesis. Whether it be an idiot parent, cancer, hardships of skin color, physical disabilities, the person that trips over him/herself to genuinely help someone else out, people that have pulled themselves up by the bootstraps, those that stand up for their beliefs and respect others, parents that work multiple low-wage jobs to ensure they can feed their kids, those sorts of peoples...they're my hero's. ...and... Ferris Bueller, Zack Morris, the greatest slacker of all, my cat "Stevenhead," and this guy:
...the people that go above and beyond the call of duty. Teachers working for a barely livable wage; fire fighters that run into burning buildings to save people or animals; cops that stand in the face of danger night in day out; first responders and paramedics. People that work jobs that are often over looked. Janitors, waste removal, and the like. Without them, my world doesn't function, thank you.
I'm insightful, fun-loving, and hard working. I'm determined to be better every day at every thing I do.
I believe in the beauty of humanity. The world and people at large are innately good---corruption, greed, and personal objectives work to destroy the beauty; it's up to those of us that provide the beauty to not let them get to us and paint this world an even better color then when we came into it.
nomad much? I hope you do.
I've been to 30+ states and about 15 countries.
I speak more languages then the average American, but not even half as many as I'd like to. (Svenska e basta!)
I like music, a lot; however, I suck at pop culture.
I know some of the most amazing people. They have helped me learn more about me, friends truly are a reflection of self.
I have a cat. She's cooler then any other cat you've ever met. Even Garfield.
I love to cook. I believe in eating locally grown foods as much as possible, certified organic is better then most, fair trade is even more important.
I have the ultimate slacker's degree---Anthropology.
"Sure prof D****a, I'll go to the bar and study the linguistic abilities of my peers. Hopefully they're cunning"
I don't think she got it.
do you?
I love sports. Playing over watching. Why watch it if you can go out and play it?
GO WINGS, GO TIGERS, GO BO SOX, yankees SUCK, GO SPURS GO, and oh yes, GO BRONCOS
I still collect baseball and hockey cards.
I miss Texas much like a person misses an old friend who has left for a better life. Alas, it was me that left and even while I long to go back I know it won't be the same.
That saddens me. HOOK 'EM deep in the heart of Texas!
Surprisingly, I've had success in achieving many of my dreams. But, that doesn't mean I've stopped dreaming. New ones exist already.
People that share my interests, and especially those in my age group may want to find a fast track on the maturity field and get in it. Just a thought, do as you please and remain in your insecure shell of a being.
..
Who I'd like to meet:
People can be only divided into good or bad; their race, religion, nationality don't matter." Irena (Krzyzanowska)Sendler
I want to meet good people.
I'm new to town, so it sounds good, I suppose. To meet people that is. In fact, I love meeting new people, networking, kicking back, having a good time, being there for my friends, having a chill night in or a rowdy night out. Dinner parties, happy hour, foodies, activists, feminists, conservationists, ... really, people of any sort. Honest, fun loving, truthful people need apply. Ye rest can kiss my arse.
*btw* I'm single, and I'm good with that. Not looking, not wanting, not needing. (I hate the fact I even have to put this out here.) Just know, it's not you, not now not here. So if I've sent an email...it's just b/c you rock (at least your page does) and that's why I'm talking to you, not b/c I want to get in your pants. But then again, who knows what the cards hold.
This cracks me up!
....
