MySpace a place for friends

Influenced primarily by artists like Pink Floyd, U2, Fito Paez, Soda Stereo, Tom Petty, songwriter Luichy Guzmán (guitars, keyboards, vocals) releases his first album "Contracorriente" amidst troubled times in his homecountry, Dominican Republic. Using guitars, bass and drums as the basis for the music, decorated once in a while with mandolins and accordions.
It was recorded in "Estudio 828" an up-and-coming Dominican recording studio and record label beggining november 2003 and ending september 2004. Allan Leschhörn and Leo Susana, founders of the studio, helped Luichy co-produce the album.

"Contracorriente" was released officialy in Santo Domingo on October 2 with a concert at the National School of Arts. Some of the titles included are: "El Rey Desconocido", "Contracorriente", "Como Ninguna Otra Mujer" and "Cadenas". "Sueño Lúcido" has direct references to some of the late 70's Pink Floyd songs and talks about the theory of Lucid Dreaming. "Canción de Amor del Verano Pasado" is a more personal kind of song talking about unforgettable experiences during one particular summer. Luichy, on the other hand, writes about all the girls who crossed his life in "Cuantas Veces". Other songs are "Ola de Mar", "Pleamar" and "Solos en el Valle".
