Luisa Sello took her diploma in flute at the Conservatory of Udine at a very young age, then studied at the Accademia Chigiana of Siena with Severino Gazzelloni and at the Académie Internationale de Nice with Alain Marion. After important masterclasses with Conrad Klemm, Glauco Cambursano and James Galway, her meeting with the flautist and teacher Raymond Guiot was of fundamental significance. Under Guiot she undertook advanced studies in Paris over the course of many years, deepening her knowledge of the most important pieces of the solo repertoire for the flute. She then pursued the study of interpretation at the prestigious school of the conductor Luigi Toffolo. She immediately distinguished herself for her phrasing and quality of sound (of her Severino Gazzelloni wrote: “magnificent interpretive sensibility and excellent sound” – Raymond Guiot: “Very musical, superb sound”) and began a concert career that has involved her presence in numerous festivals and international concert series. Following a brief period of orchestral experience and collaboration with the orchestra of the Teatro alla Scala of Milan under the direction of Riccardo Muti, she has played alongside artists such as Alirio Diaz, Johannes Kropfitsch, Trevor Pinnock, the Nuovo Quartetto Italiano, the Jess Trio Wien, and has been guest soloist with orchestras such as I Virtuosi Italiani, the Salzburger Kammerorchester and the Orchestra Milano Classica. She has participated in numerous chamber music tours with programmes that included the complete performance of Mozart’s Concertos and Quartets, Vivaldi’s Concertos, and the Sonatas for flute and harpsichord by J.S. Bach. Her classical background is combined with knowledge of early music performance and the study of the historic transverse flute, and with specialised study of the interpretation of Bach’s repertoire. Showing constant interest in contemporary production, Luisa Sello has worked with numerous composers (Franco Donatoni, Primos Ramovs, Josef Anton Riedl, Salvatore Sciarrino) in premiere performances of their works at festivals such as the Biennale of Venice, the Klang-Aktionen Munich, Musikprotokoll Graz, Mittelfest. Luisa Sello teaches flute at the Conservatory “Giuseppe Tartini” of Trieste. She has been invited to hold masterclasses and advanced courses at the universities of Vienna, Cologne-Aachen, and of Graz, and at the Conservatories of Moscow, of Madrid and Buenos Aires. Since 1997 she has been teacher at the Sommerkurse für Musik of St. Paul in Lanvanttal. Luisa Sello is supported by the international association of the Italian Ministry of Culture “CEMAT – New Italian Music in the World”.

Luisa Sello, nata a Udine, diplomatasi giovanissima in flauto al Conservatorio della sua città, ha proseguito gli studi all’Accademia Chigiana di Siena con Severino Gazzelloni e all’Académie Internationale de Nice con Alain Marion. Dopo i significativi corsi con Conrad Klemm, Glauco Cambursano e James Galway, di fondamentale importanza è stato il suo incontro con il flautista e didatta francese Raymond Guiot, sotto la cui guida si è poi perfezionata a Parigi nel corso di lunghi anni, approfondendo il repertorio solistico più importante della letteratura per flauto. Ha poi coltivato gli studi dell’interpretazione alla preziosa scuola del direttore d’orchestra Luigi Toffolo. Distintasi subito per fraseggio e qualità del suono (scrivono di lei Severino Gazzelloni: “magnifica sensibilità interpretativa e ottimo suono” – Raymond Guiot: “Très musical, superbe son”) ha iniziato un percorso concertistico che la vede ormai presente in numerosi Festivals e Rassegne internazionali. Dopo una breve esperienza con l’orchestra del Teatro alla Scala di Milano sotto la direzione di Riccardo Muti, ha iniziato un percorso concertistico che la vede ormai presente in numerosi Festivals e Rassegne internazionali (La Biennale di Venezia, Klang-Aktionen München, Festival della Nazioni, Mittelfest). Ha suonato accanto ad artisti quali Alirio Diaz, Trevor Pinnock, Il Nuovo Quartetto Italiano, il Jess Trio Wien. E’ stata ospite solista di orchestre come I Virtuosi Italiani, la Salzburger Kammerorchester e l’orchestra Milano Classica. Numerose sono state le tournées in formazione cameristica con programmi che comprendevano l’esecuzione integrale dei Concerti e dei Quartetti di Mozart, delle Sonate concertanti di J. S. Bach, dei Concerti di Vivaldi, dei quintetti di Boccherini. Alla preparazione classica unisce la conoscenza della prassi esecutiva antica e lo studio del flauto traversiere storico, nonché approfondite ricerche sull’interpretazione del repertorio bachiano. Sempre attenta alla produzione d’oggi, ha lavorato con numerosi compositori (Aldo Clementi, Franco Donatoni, Adriano Guarnieri, Francesco Pennisi, Primos Ramovs, Josef Anton Riedl, Salvatore Sciarrino) eseguendone le opere in prima assoluta. Titolare della cattedra di flauto al Conservatorio “Giuseppe Tartini” di Trieste, è professore ospite all’Università di Graz e viene regolarmente invitata a tenere Master Class e corsi di perfezionamento alle Università di Vienna, Köln/Aachen, Graz, Mosca, Buenos Aires, Madrid, Miami, Pechino. Dal 1997 è docente ai Summerkurse für Musik di St.Paul im Lavanttal in Austria. Luisa Sello è tra gli artisti sostenuti dalla Federazione CEMAT che ha dato via al progetto "SONORA, Nuova Musica Italiana nel Mondo", rete di diffusione internazionale sostenuta dal Ministero degli Affari Esteri, Direzione Generale per la Promozione e la Cooperazione Culturale, e dal Ministero per i Beni e le Attività Culturali.

Seit 1987 Professur am Konservatorium in Triest. Orchestertätigkeit an der Mailänder Scala. Internationale Solistenlaufbahn mit prominenten Partnern und Orchestern. Teilnahme an renommierten Festivals ( Venedig, München, Graz, Festival delle Nazioni…). Aufnahmen für R.A.I., ORF, Bayerischen Rundfunk.
