With new songs, new red keyboard, new sounds & new musicians, Luke creates an intimate sphere, with moments of tension & release. The CD will be recorded & the tour commences during the year. In 2010 Luke reaches for a new direction in a smooth harmonizing duo with Hartog, another well aclaimed singer-songwriter from Amsterdam. A member of the Amsterdam Singer Songwriters Guild, Luke Nyman performs regularly in The Netherlands (Paradiso, Winston, Atlantis, Fantasio, etc.) as well as on radio shows such as AmsterdamFM, RTVNH, Radio 5 & of course English Breakfast Radio! He has also toured in France, Germany, Austria & England. Luke has always performed live solo gigs, but this hasn't stopped him from starting other projects along the way. In 2007, after 8 years & 2 CD's, he disbanded his duo Ottow Darling (he was Darling), in search of a rockier sound. By 2008 he had invited Robert Kramers (Alderliefste bassist) & Guzz Genser (exdrummer H.Brood) to create The Nyman Brothers, whipping up the crowds on the Naked Flame tour in 2008. Anno 2009, he was on the road with The Travlin' Tunes, a multifaceted trio with 2 other talented singersongwriters Nadie & MiRco,playing a mix of folk, pop & rock with acoustic guitars, melodicas, harmonicas, Lukeleles & shakers. In 6 short months, among a continuous flow of gigs, they have crusaded across Holland in the first Live-In-Your-Living-Room Tour, setup by LiYLR veteran Kees Jonkheer (Crossing Border, Noorderslag), to a slew of rave reviews by 3voor12, local newspapers & NRC, & the delight of the attending public. He is also performs as piano player for other members of the Amsterdam Songwriters Guild;- Lake Montgomery, Ro Halfhide and Tony Chapman. Expressing emotions with subtleness and elegance, his talent for improvisation catch you by surprise, and his haunting lyrics and melodies sooth your mind and lighten your heart. Born in England in a musical family, Luke Nyman started to play plastic trumpet at the age of 6, and started classical piano lessons with Virginia Black at the age of 7. Starting his first band with his brothers at 12, he began writing his own songs, and continued to learn other instruments, guitar, bass and drums. Luke won several piano contests, among other The Chelmsford Music Festival. Also singing in a choir, he performed at Victoria Albert Hall in London. Luke Nyman studied studio engineering at Kingston University/Gateway Studios in London. Moving to Amsterdam in the early 90's, he studied in the renowned Institute of Sonology at the Royal Conservatory of The Hague, and started his career as a singer songwriter. Well known in the Netherlands under the name The Computer & MIDI Doctor, Luke is, for more than 10 years, an established studio engineer, specialising in Midi and audio interfaces and protocols.
