"Most days I wish I had Luke's heart. His contemplative and introspective nature shines in his songs. All he asks for is glory ― a glory not received by a god or the common material. He asks for the glory that can only be received after a cold Alaska morning, a night out in Oxford, a dust storm in the desert. The glory received only by seeing and doing it all, then putting a tune to it."
―August J. Speckmeier of POOR CLAUDIA (Portland, OR)
Redfield's first "proper" album, Ephemeral Eon was recorded in Austin, TX and Minneapolis, MN by Jason Orris (Golden Smog) and Tom Herbers (Low, Wilco). Redfield's transcendental travel tunes are backed by a band of Minneapolis all-stars: acclaimed vocalist, Haley Bonar (City Pages' Artist of the Year); Andrew Bird's guitarist, Jeremy Ylvisaker; drummer JT Bates (Greg Brown, The Pines); and jazz bassist Chris Bates are onboard throughout the 14-track opus. Guest Alex Ramsey (son of legendary roots music producer, Bo Ramsey) plays piano on two tracks, "Couer d'Alene" and "With You in MPLS." Mixed by Herbers and Micheal Larsen (a.k.a. Eyedea), it is available for download now, via Grain Belt Records, on iTunes and Amazon.com. CD's and vinyl will be available in early 2010.
Humans Believe in EPHEMERAL EON...
"'Ephemeral Eon' is for the wanderer who, at times, finds himself far from the trail, discovering that the light at the end of the tunnel is actually within oneself." ―CHRIS KOZA, Singer/songwriter
"A superb recording of leading-edge material...highly recommended!"
―KEN WILBER, Author of The Integral Vision
"When I hear it, I want to be in a Volkswagen driving south on Highway 1, with no return trip booked."
―ISROXXOR
"As a songwriter, he has taken folk's humble yearning for transcendence and ridden it to the stars. This is the kind of music I want played at bars and festivals, where ― God willing ― it might enlighten a few by osmosis."
―COLORADO MUSIC BOARD
"Mr. Redfield's whimsical, contemplative and existential ode to life on the open road comes off like a reading of Bellow's 'The Adventures of Augie March.' One of the true delights I have heard this year!"
