Sounds Like
Weather Report with an edge, fused with Umphrey's McGee, and maybe John Scofield with more overdrive, influenced by Tribal Tech and Garaj Mahal's funk. Maybe even Steely Dan with some badass riffs and some more creative attitude?,....It could even sound like a *evil*dirty*funky* soundtrack to a science fiction movie...
"It's pretty unique and hard to classify. Take a listen, and see what you think, 'cause obviously I have a hard time describing it." -Luke Stone
I asked a few musician friends of mine, and they texted me back with "like Primus meets Dennis Chambers meets Lettuce and Adam Dietch meets Vinnie Caliuta." -Tommy Demmil
2008 Release. Luke’s 3rd solo CD Elaborate Mess combines unique funky rock, with a progressive fusion sound. It involves heavy grooves and unique intertwining melodic and rhythmic texture. You will also find strong solos and vocals on a few tracks. The writing album was influenced primarily by a Hammond B3 that a friend of Luke’s loaned him that had been wired incorrectly, creating ridiculous overdrive output. This Disc features Eric Levy "Garage Mahal", Brian Baggett "Dojo", and professor Todd Wilkenson "Boko Maru". Stone Lab Records
Currently, Luke is touring and playing locally with a
band called Cosmopolitics. This band could be
described as heavily composed progressive rock with a
lot of improvisation. In this band you can hear some
of Luke’s compositions played live, as well as
compositions written by guitarist Matt Gader.
