4Talent award winner Luke Wright might just be the hardest working man in poetry. Since 2006 he's launched his own curve-ball bid to become Poet Laureate, programmed and hosted Latitude's poetry arena (the largest poetry event in Europe) and has become the newest poet-in-residence on BBC Radio 4's Saturday Live. In 2009 he took contemporary poetry onto primetime TV, writing all the poetry for Channel 4’s The Seven Ages of Love, a 30 minute documentary that gained ‘pick of the day’ in 8 national publications and was broadcast to over a million people.
His first book, Who Writes This Crap?, co-written with Joel Stickley, was published by Penguin in 2007. A live show based on the book enjoyed a sell-out run at Edinburgh 2008.
His spoken word album - The Rise and Fall of Luke Wright, Esq - is available to order online here. A pamphlet is forthcoming from Egg Box Summer 2009.
Luke's new show is called The Petty Concerns of Luke Wright, and it debuts at The 2009 Edinburgh Fringe Festival.

Poem 162 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): TEES TO TYNE: FIRST IMPRESSIONS - SUMMER 2001
Where traditions are not so rare; Sea, country and works scent the air; A multitude of monuments, Planted tubs and patterned pavements.
The longish pedestrian malls; The remnants of defensive walls; Historic buildings are a gauge Of the respect for heritage.
Wheat, rape and pines in the fields; Estuaries guarded by shields; Long sandy beaches and wide scenes; Romantic-ruin go-betweens.
Rivers in parts licked by trees, Or fringed by boat clubs, wharfs, gantries, And crossed by practical delights - Varied spans, forming pleasing sights.
Fine churches headed at Durham; Football kits ad infinitum; Kept castles - one for study; Masonry behind masonry.
And, with moulding-works out that way, It’s somewhere for a longer stay..?

My New Book: Butterfly Tai Chi: Health, Energy and Tranquility in 10 Minutes a Day
Description
The author was inspired by observing butterflies to develop a system of Tai Chi that could be performed in a limited space and within a relatively short time. He designed Tai Chi movements that naturally enhance the Qi flow in the order directed by Chinese medicine and whilst it can be used to treat a wide variety of illnesses, its real power is in preventing illness. Succinct and effective the reader can learn this form of Tai Chi within a day and can be performed anywhere -no matter how little space available.
About the Author
Martin Faulks has been a student of the oriental martial arts since he was five years old. He has a black belt in the Korean martial art, Kuk Sool Won and is proficient in the mystical disciplines of China including Tai Chi, Meditation, Qi Gong and the legendary form of Yi Jin Jing.

Poem 2 of 230, WalkaboutsVerse (please see my blog): WALKABOUT WITH MY PEN
Once drove an old sedan, up north, From a place in Sydney to Cairns; Then to Kuranda I went forth, By train, to look without set plans.
I browsed through the trendy market, With fresh fruits of tropical kind; Walked to the creek through lush thicket - Nature’s hand giving peace of mind.
I dined in a scenic cafe; Then, outside, as I wrote for yen, Some passing Kooris called-out: “Hey, You go walkabout with your pen.”
Request or question, I don’t know - Assured voices, elderly men. That’s now several years ago, And I’ve seen the world - with my pen.
Heyaaaa! Every time you have a new show I can't imagine a better one... your petty concerns blew my mind, still thinking about it now even though I squirm when I hear you've got a joke an that : ) Hen & Chickens was amazing, lifted my mood 10++, got all dewy eyed though around Mondeo Man... jokes, I'm quite sensitive, maybe I need diluting too. Hope that Edinburgh's going well for you, hope to see you after. Take care and big love as always, miss you honorary scouse brother x
