Sounds Like
luma's sound has been described as having: " the sweep of u2, the melodies of teenage fanclub and the americana jangle-pop of the thrills and the beach boys" according to the edinburgh evening news.
Luma are an Indie rock group who hail from Motherwell/Bellshill, Scotland and since forming in 2003, have been building an ever growing fan base playing both Christian and mainstream venues throughout the UK.
Lumas first e.p. California, was recorded at Cava studios in Glasgow. Cava Engineer Geoff Allan had just finished working on Franz Ferdinands first album and his creative touches mixed with the fresh pop sound of Luma produced their exciting debut e.p. which was well received, with Crossrhythms having described it as a blend of intelligent, atmospheric guitar work, beautifully arranged and crafted songs.
Lumas growing success in the mainstream circuit was highlighted in 2005 when Luma had the pleasure of performing live on Vic Galloways show on BBC Radio Scotland. This was followed by the band taking some more time in the studio to work on their sophomore e.p. Daytime T.V.
Off of the back of Daytime TV, Luma began to move into playing festivals and some larger venues, with 2006 seeing the boys play in Switzerland and America as well as festivals closer to home, most notably Greenbelt.
In early 2007, Luma got ready for their third studio break. The product of this was Blue Peter Garden, which the band feel is their best work to date. Whilst 2007 was a bit of a quite year by Lumas standards, they continued playing at a mix of venues with the most notable being Creation Fest in the south of England.
The Edinburgh Evening News described their sound as having: "The sweep of U2, the melodies of Teenage Fanclub and the Americana jangle-pop of the Thrills and the Beach Boys." Luma love playing live and they are passionate about choruses, laughter, capos, KFC, Back to the Future and Jesus. Claim to be a Luma fan now; before they are so huge its terribly uncool.
