Bombs in the SkY
As the youngest and most exciting band on the Lebanese scene, LUMI embodies the glamor and the chaotic dynamic of their city Beirut.
Lumi, comes from the French word lumiere, meaning light, which represents an optimistic response to the gloomy environment they are surrounded by, a call to live freely and to fully enjoy it.
Marc Codsi and Mayaline Hage started LUMI in 2005 with the need of expressing their exciting, joyful and sometimes dramatic days in Beirut!
After a first self produced EP in 2007 LUMI went back to the studio this time in Dusseldorf Germany to finalize all the work they have done so far with the help of producer Andi toma. The result was 'Two tears in Waters’, a powerful mixture of Rock, Electro and Glam. The Album released by EMI in the Middle East, quickly gained a lot of interest especially in Lebanon and Dubai where it even was labeled by some journalists as best 2008 Album. A brilliant Video for the single 'Don't F with my cat' directed by Sary Sehnaoui is also on rotation on the Music Video channels.
After the release of the Album in the Middle East in June08 and a big release concert in Beirut, Lumi went touring in Europe which is their music's natural environment. They eventually got to play in SONAR festival in Barcelona, then in Paris, Berlin, Belfast, London then back in Beirut where they played in the Byblos International festival and finally in Dubai.
After this very encouraging European experience, and with the enthusiasm of the crowd, Lumi is currently preparing their second tour for Spring/Summer 2009 with new materials ready to be experienced!
