Sounds Like
A banshee zonked on truth serum, according to Rolling Stone music critic
Grover Lewis.
As a solo performer she is also one of the busiest funny ladies on the music circuit and has appeared in concert at churches, universities, and corporate events throughout the United States. Additionally, she has performed for children in concert and on television. Click here for Lu’s

With Catch-23 she is a local favorite and consistent crowd-pleaser at Uncle Calvin’s Coffeehouse, Poor David’s Pub, and the Pocket Sandwich Theatre, her "home base" these days.
Lu began her music career in the 1960s at the now legendary Rubaiyat in Dallas, Texas. Since then, she has shared the stage with The Kingston Trio, Tom Paxton, John Prine, Carolyn Hester, Ronnie Gilbert, Holly Near, and many other name acts.
Lu Mitchell has released more than a dozen albums and has published a songbook called SINGING FOR HER SANITY, now in its third edition.
How Catch-23 got its name: Lu and Drake met in 1986 and decided to form a band. They named it after CATCH-22, the bestselling novel by American author Joseph Heller.

Keep kicking ass, Lu. If you don't who will? I'm on my way to First UU to help out at a brunch for the high school group. Great to see you message pop up on myspace! Have a fantastic spring.
Thanks for adding me as your friend. You and your joyous musical wit have never been forgotten even though I moved from Dallas over 15 years ago. ~ Your friend in Santa Cruz, CA
Lu, Have been mulling over your wonderful comments for the past two weeks. You totally blew me away. You not only made my day but made each day since! But, alas, I believe you are already the "legendary" one and I truly respect you. I'm kinda sorta just the crazy ol' drummer. Smile!!! After all, where else can one go when they are feeling blue and listen to a song like "Love on the Internet" and be filled with laughter and joy and feel blessed and happy for the rest of the day? You are truly a gem! All my best, Billy Bucher
Lu, thanks for the add. I have had a blast going into your website, reading about your past, listening to the songs. You are so right on about humor and what it can do for you. I have this distinct feeling you enjoy every moment of life, whatever it gives you.
Hey Lu- Thanks for the friend request- you are such an inspiration for so many of us- Thanks a million times over for sharing your songs and humor with us in times when we need them most!
Lu, Thanks for including me among your friends. Being a Rubaiyat alum myself, playing there in Ewing Street Times with John Vandiver and Shake Russell, I was totally blown away recently when I played with Cornell Kinderknecht at the Moonlady Appeciation Show and caught you with Ladonna and Drake. Your songs are carefully crafted and very clever gems and your smile and warmth is infectious. Best wishes to a Texas Legend. Billy Bucher
