RECENT IN-STORE MAGIC... AMO JOY / NORMANOAK IN-STORE + STANDARD RECORDINGS BBQ! SATURDAY, JULY 11 @ 3:00PM LUNA music MIDTOWN/BROAD RIPPLE (52nd & College)
Amo Joy is a four, sometimes three and sometimes five, piece indie psych-pop band from Indianapolis and the latest Indy band to hit the road and export the rock to parts far and wide. Kazoos! Trumpet! Amo Joy is keen on handing out all sorts of merry noisemakers to the audience to keep the toes tapping. 'The Sane Design' is the bands second full-length album.
The cats from Standard will also be bringing some BBQ science for the hungry! Nice Summer party, eh?

Secretly Canadian record artist (and LUNA fave), Richard Swift, is going to stop by the 52 to blow some minds, with an in-store performance, before his show with The Fray at The Lawn. Fingers crossed that he brings a little Instruments Of Science And Technology magic with him...
GUSTAFER YELLOWGOLD THURSDAY, MAY 21 @ 6:00PM LUNA music MIDTOWN/BROAD RIPPLE (52nd & College) The Gustafer Yellowgold Show, with its unique crossover appeal, has performed as the wild-card opening act for Wilco and The Polyphonic Spree. Gustafer recently made his off-Broadway debut at the DR2 Theatre in a new show, Gustafer Yellowgold’s Mellow Sensation. Tours to arts centers, children’s museums, schools, libraries, cinemas and theaters have taken the show all across the United States, the U.K and even Korea!
Taylor's other projects include playing bass for The Autumn Defense (featuring John and Pat from Wilco), as well as a recording project with Tony Award winning songwriter Duncan Sheik.
FAREED HAQUE THISSATURDAY, MAY 16 @ 5:00PM LUNA music MIDTOWN/BROAD RIPPLE (52nd & College) Out supporting his new release, 'Flat Planet,' on our local Owl label--venerable Jazz guitarist, Fareed Haque, along with a Tabla player, will be gracing the 52 this Friday!

Before flying out to L.A. to conclude his first Stateside run in over a year, the Buzzin' Fly/Strange Feeling label guru (and one half of Everything But The Girl) will be dropping a set of House, Nu Disco, Alternative Pop & Stone-Cold Re-Edits at the Broad Ripple shop--for this, our first Sunday Social.
Todd and I have been friends for many years. Luna Music strikes me as an one of the most essential walk-in record stores in the world. I was passing, so it seemed churlish not to stop by and spin a few tunes in the name of good friendship and the unbending spirit of independence. Expect a 360 degree set. All genres allowed!

Venerable Drag City artist and LUNA favorite, Mr. Bill Callahan, will be coming to the 52 on Easter Sunday!
This is his only appearance in our fair city! Word in the U.K. press is his new record, 'Sometimes I Wish I Were An Eagle,' is his "masterpiece." We can't wait..

DANIEL MARTIN MOORE & NORMANOAK MONDAY, DECEMBER 29 @ 7:00PM / LUNA music MIDTOWN/BROAD RIPPLE (52nd & College) One of the glorious records, from the past year, is Stray Age by Daniel Martin Moore. Found in constant rotation during the opening/waking hours of the 52, this understated, elegant gem of a record (think Ron Sexsmith's first record, Bryter Layter, John Coltrane & Johnny Hartman, All The Way by Jimmy Scott, Mark Kozelek live, or as Daniel puts it, "More snowfall than firestorm") was/is always on our deck, so it seems. On the last Monday of the year, December 29, we have the good fortune of welcoming Mr. Moore to the 52, to play songs from the hushed and comely Stray Age. Bloomington's psyche-bard, Normanoak, will also be bringing his own brand of beautiful mastery to the proceedings--for those of you who remember how special the Little Wings/Normanoak show was a few years back, you'll want to be along for the ride on this one!
