The 'Luna Fringe' is changing from an evening devoted purely to experimental music and free improvisation, to one which might also feature other experimental art forms, such as video art, performance artists, performance poets etc. Some of the music may also embrace bands that perform written material, as long as it is a little quirky and off-centre.
The evenings are hosted at the 'Luna Lounge' in Leytonstone on the last Thursday of each month. This small and intimate venue normally showcases jazz music across the entire spectrum, from smooth crooners, through smooth jazzers, to bebop. The 'Luna Fringe', however, crosses beyond the edge of easy classification, featuring music that is just as likely to be influenced by contemporary classical music as it might be by industrial noise or experimental electronics.
The evenings aim to bring a mix of well known and lesser known artists, and each evening will feature 2 to 3 acts.
On Friday, November 6th 2009, at 1:10 pm (doors open at 1:00 pm): an improvised music event with with Paul Dunmall (bagpipes and saxophone) and Han-earl Park (guitar) at the Ó Riada Hall, UCC Music Building, Sundays Well, Cork, Ireland. Admission is free.
Sorry we missed the show Thursday. I'll be Dom and Tanya were amazing (as per usual...) We'd love to come back and play sometime too! Thanks for having such a great night! Cheers! Vultures
Dear Noel. Vultures loved the gig you organised last Thursday. Fantastic line-up. Thank you for your efforts and for the invite. Happy to repeat the experience.
Great to see The Luna Lounge getting the recognition it deserves. I will be performing some new looping material there as part of the Leytonstone Festival on 16th July. FARUD GETS ELECTRICITY, on my player, is one of the pieces I will be performing.
Thanks for your message. We'd be happy to play at Luna Fringe, it looks like an interesting club and it's not too far from where I live in E17. Can you give me some possible dates? Cheers - Richard
Great Shit you Luna Fringers!!! Will try and get to your gigs. We got Ernst Reijseger/Convergence Quartet and Alex Ward and Chris Cundy coming up on 1st May. Get up here and party! XC
