.... The ..'Luna Fringe' ..is changing from an evening devoted purely to experimental music and free improvisation, to one which might also feature other experimental art forms, such as video art, performance artists, performance poets etc. Some of the music may also embrace bands that perform written material, as long as it is a little quirky and off-centre..... The evenings are hosted at the ..'Luna Lounge'.. in Leytonstone on the last Thursday of each month. This small and intimate venue normally showcases jazz music across the entire spectrum, from smooth crooners, through smooth jazzers, to bebop. The 'Luna Fringe', however, crosses beyond the edge of easy classification, featuring music that is just as likely to be influenced by contemporary classical music as it might be by industrial noise or experimental electronics. ...... ...... The evenings aim to bring a mix of well known and lesser known artists, and each evening will feature 2 to 3 acts. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .... .. -

Giant Paw is an enigmatic band who actually claim to have been a greeting cards company since 2006 and, more bizarrely, the aural output of the mysterious Ancient Order of the Giant Paw. This order is apparently based on a strange heirloom in the Ravenscroft family of Bodmin and this itself is rumoured to have originated from a Persian mystic in 700AD. But what do they sound like? This is more important than mere sound, goddamnit! Ok, maybe a bit like The Residents...
Flash Band Band are a young Brighton band that incorporate some nostalgic feel-good factors into wonky electronic avenues. Fun and surprising.
“We're thinking that they sound like Kool & The Gang with one hand up Paul McCartney's arse” - Unpeeled
Walter Cardew is the composer/producer son of Cornelius. Expect some mind-bending wizardry.
Always happy to be in the vanguard!
