Lupus International was founded in 1983, initially as the Lupus Foundation of America Greater Los Angeles Chapter, a non profit organization. As we continued to grow and expand our services, it became more evident that our programs were being utilized beyond Los Angeles, hence the name change. Our corporate headquarters is located in the heart of one of the leading research and biotech areas in the country.

MISSION: The primary function of Lupus International is to alleviate suffering for lupus patients through patient services, including education, early detection of undiagnosed cases through awareness promotion, and to eradicate lupus by supporting lupus research. There is hope. During our 22 years, we have provided thousands of people with educational and supportive services. We assist those affected by lupus to live fuller, more productive lives.

WHY LUPUS INTERNATIONAL? Lupus has no boundaries. It affects people of all nationalities worldwide. Lupus International's programs currently touch lives across the United States. This new cyber-era of information exchange provides us with the medium to interface in real time with leading medical institutions in the U.S. and around the world, deliver portable support programs that can be easily translated into multiple languages, and launch awareness campaigns via the internet, print, cable, television and radio stations.

Adult & Pediatric Lupus Symposium at UCLA

Adult and Pediatric Lupus Symposium ADULT & PEDIATRIC LUPUS SYMPOSIUM AT UCLA MEDICAL CENTER

.................................. Lupus International was honored to have several world-renowned physicians discuss --as a panel and individually--about lupus and its effects on the body. The Adult & Pediatric Lupus Symposium held on February 28, 2009 was kindly hosted by UCLA Medical Center in their brand new state-of-the-art Ronald Reagan Hospital Auditorium. ........................................ The panel, along with several lupus patients, discussed a variety of topics related to lupus SLE and living with a chronic illness. Topics covered were; Pregnancy and Lupus, The Kidney and How It Is Affected By Lupus, CNS Lupus, Research Advances and the Future of Lupus, and Coping with Lupus. ........................................ The auditorium was filled to capacity for the event. Most agreed that there were several highlights of the day. One of which was the level of professional knowledge about lupus present on the panel. And, the other was the heart felt sessions led by two young women, Mary Ann Seng and Ashley Dimitruk. These strong lupus survivors spoke from personal experience about their fight and what they do to cope with the physical and emotional challenges of this disease. ........................................ We look forward to another successful and informative symposium in 2010. Hope to see you there. Keep watching our website for upcoming events and symposiums, call 888/532-2322 or email info@lupusinternational.com for more information. ........................................ A sincere thank you to Dr. Deborah McCurdy, chief of UCLA's Pediatric Rheumatology Department, and her staff for preparing and organizing this event along with Lupus International.
