Lurach explore Scotland's Gaelic & Scots song traditions and play tunes gathered in both Scotland & Ireland. The result is vibrant, distinctive music; "a sparkling mix" of fiddle, dual flutes, tenor banjo, whistle and song. Four musicians from across Scotland, our paths first crossed in Benbecula in the beautiful Western Isles. Firm friends ever since, Lurach grew out of many nights spent sharing tunes in cosy kitchens, drinking tea, braving snowy hills in Angus and rainy nights in Argyll (we won't mention the Glasgow taxis), always with the prospect of music and good times ahead, always saving the best songs to accompany the walk home. Hand in hand with the fun came a respect and love for the music, instilled in us by the many inspirational musicians we've come across and learned from along the way. Since forming as a band, Lurach have performed the length and breadth of Scotland, and were delighted to win a prestigious Danny Kyle Award at Celtic Connections in Glasgow. ..Myspace Layouts.. - ..Myspace Editor.. - ..Hot Comments.. - ..Image Hosting....

Bio:

Lurach are three young musicians from different areas of Scotland who met whilst taking a traditional music course in Benbecula in the Outer Hebrides. We play both Scottish and Irish music, with a particular focus on Scottish Gaelic and Scots song. Our sound is heavily influenced by our time spent in the Outer Hebrides, an area rich in music and song, as well as the places and experiences we have since encountered through music.
