Interests

  • General

    I'm interested in pretty much everything, but I'm known far and wide for my absolutely retched taste. (Puns, 90s movies, tawdry romance novels? I'm so very there. And I would TOTALLY wear bright red lipstick every day if it was socially acceptable.) I like learning new things - whenever I pick up a new interest, I read up on it, 'cause I'm just a dork that way. I have a super addictive personality, which means I make a point to stay away from drugs, and get really, REALLY involved with whatever my big interest of the moment it. At one time or another, I enjoy reading, writing (poetry, short stories, etc.), graphic design, cake decorating, picking up any given instrument for a week and then giving up because I have midget hands, playing practical jokes, crocheting and knitting, running around banging coconut halves together, driving around with the windows down and music loud, hanging out with my family, being a public nuisance, finding cool stuff on the curb the night before trash day, and sending and receiving mail. In a nutshell. :)

  • Music

    I’ll sit through almost anything but rap or R&B, but I’m terribly fond of showtunes and emo/punk rock music. Any grouping of songs I listen to in the car must contain at least one song that allows me to dance erratically at stop lights when old people are staring at me.

    Current obsessions include the Assassins and Seussical original cast recordings, Taylor Swift, and Panic! At the Disco

  • Movies

    I like LOTS of movies, and lots of very different ones - anything but scary movies generally do me just fine. I'm a big fan of Monty Python along with any other British comedies, but I also like chick flicks, and good butt-kickin' movies. I think the movies where they cut in and out of different lives that intersect in unpredictable or interesting ways (CRASH, Love Actually, etc.) are especially cool.

  • Television

    I don't watch a ton of television, though it's more than I used to. I'm hopelessly devoted to anything Joss Whedon, and I watch Grey's and Private Practice when I have time to go to my friends' room and do so. (I don't care enough to watch them alone.) I also liked Dirty Sexy Money before it was canceled. Turdfaces.

  • Books

    Again, I'll read pretty much anything, though I love nontraditional narrative perspectives. I've read several classics, and I always enjoy them when I make myself read them, but I rarely take time. I like anything by Shakespeare, Laurel K. Hamilton, Sarah Dessen, and John Greene, and I like a lot of Nora Roberts - you know, the ones with the actual plots and not just lots of awkward sex. I like poetry a lot, too, and while I don't have many anthologies (can you say expensive?) I'm a big fan of Walt Whitman, Mark Doty, and Leonard Cohen.

  • Heroes

    There's never been anyone that I just idolise, really, but I've been blessed with lots of wonderful mentors, and I hope I'll be able to learn from them to be the best possible version of myself in the future.
