About me:
LUS came about in 96’ as a response to civil injustice. Formed by Latino youth who believed in social equality, that every human deserved rights. In the Fall of the mentioned year, the Salem Police Department published a book on identifying “Gangs” and “gang members” which many though was a form of racial profiling. Through grassroots organizing, and social movements, Latinos Unidos Siempre succeeded in abolishing the booklet published by the SPD. Through out the years LUS has become a powerful source in the change of the community. Standing up for immigrant rights, and the right of all the youth in the Salem and Keizer area. Going on for 12 years, LUS has dealt with issues ranging from education, gay rights, healthcare, sexual abuse, sexuality, immigrant rights, supporting US troops (NOT THE WAR) equality, the DREAM ACT, Instate Tuition, and many others.
