CD Review - "Then There Was You"
Here is a country artist that really enjoys what he does and it shows. "Then There Was You" is a magnificent display of traditional style country with an innocent and analytical perspective with alot of personality. Each song is delivered with heartfelt emotion and it's evident that Luther has empathy with each track. I was quite impressed with the smooth melodies and a different outlook in this genre. Vocally strong with a touch of innocense that amplifies the good nature-ness of the artist. Co-writing this project provided by Paul Jo Taylor, Gerald Smith, Julie Taylor and Bill Warrington and clearly, these co-writers are also major talents. The musicanship of Luther's band shows technical expertise and orchestration is not overpowering leaving a clean, smooth sound with plenty of hooks. Key tracks are "Great Minds Drink Alike", "Listen Here" (with Karen Dee), "Alone" and "Get Gone". If you are looking for country that is more than exceptional, "Then There Was You" will fill your musical void.
