Luxocrush was formed in 1995 in San Jose by Keith St Thomas (guitars and vocals), with Ginna Macaraeg (bass), and Johnny Graziadei (drums).
The sound is mysterious, boundless, intoxicating and powerful. Luxocrush is a mallet of joy, and a cultivation of sadness. It is smooth and surreal, like the dying strands of a far-off scream. It is the brilliant light of salvation just before a fatal impact.
In 1996 the band released their first album on Sesha Press, SUPER MODIFIED. The album was recorded at the House of Faith in Oakland, by Bart Thurber. The album contains four studio tracks and two songs from a live performance recorded at the The Edge in Palo Alto in January 1996.
The second album, SLEEPERHOLD, was release in 1997. It is an intense and dark album, filled with violent imagery and violent emotions. The album includes a version of the Siouxsie & the Banshees classic, NIGHTSHIFT. These songs are dark and menacing, but they are also songs of exquisite beauty and have a melodic resonance that is rare in modern rock.
