We write songs about things we do, things we see and people we know. Musically, we are influenced from everyone from the Grateful Dead to Hank Williams. Our original music results from all we are and all we know.
Sounds Like
Heavy folk country sound with a hint of Cajun and bluegrass music. We emphasize harmony vocals and give you a chance to hear the lyrics of the songs we write.
Lousiaska began as a side project for father Leighton Nunez and daughter Jessica Knott in Fairbanks, Alaska in 1999. The group, originally named Y'all, changed their name to Lousiaska in 2000, which they felt embodied the original nature of their songs a bit better. The group played consistently throughout the state of Alaska, as well as in the Lower 48 for the next five years until the end of 2005. The band reunited in 2006 for a select few gigs. All members of Lousiaska continue to write songs. Look for us out and about in Alaska in 2008.
