About me:

The Lehigh Valley Acoustic Performance Contest (LVAPC) is an annual event by local musicians for local musicians that showcases acoustic songwriting talent in the Lehigh Valley area of Pennsylvania, of all genres and musical styles. Originally started by Steve Walker, the first Grand Prize Winner Leechboy took over for the 2005 and 2006 contest before getting a development deal and moving to Nashville. Since 2007 former Grand Prize Winner Ricky Bell and a team of past winners and friends continue to organize this annual event.

This site is for the promotion of that talent, the event itself, and fans of music in general. Check the blog for the Official Rules and Prizes.

Blake Dannen	Nov 14 2008 10:43 PM Congrats to week 1 winner BottleShot! Our Special Guest performers were last year's winner Scott McDonald and our intrepid host Ricky Bell. We had a bunch of great acts for week 1, so thanks for coming out. The next one is this Tuesday, Nov. 18th with sign-ups at 7pm and music at 8pm. The word is that Leechboy will be playing a short set during intermission as a Special Guest. He was the very 1st winner of this annual contest and he kept the contest alive for the next couple of years before getting a development deal and heading off to Nashville. If you're a musician, come out and play and get two packs of strings just for taking the stage...and go for over $1500 in weekly and Grand Prize goodies!

Here is your FIRST LOOK at some of the details that have been worked out. Spread the word and we hope to see your autographs on the sign-up sheets! The Blue Monkey, 1092 Howertown Rd. in Catasauqua Nov. 11, 18, 25, Dec. 2, and the Finals on Dec. 9. Sign-ups at 7pm, music at 8pm. Maximum 10 performers per night, so you WILL need to get there at 7. Blake Dannen	Dec 7 2007 12:39 AM yeah, congrats to Scott McDonald on the 2007 win. you can hear one of his awesome songs on my profile. he told me that it was just a pleasure to be there and to hear (and meet) the other great performers. I LOVE that about this particular event. it has always had that healthy vibe...just a lot of mutual-admiration and networking going on. it's not REALLY about "winning." like TONIGHT: Ricky invited Scott to play with him at his gig at the Center Valley Tavern tonight. I don't think they knew each other before this contest. brings a tear to my eye. :-) THANK YOU to all the judges for devoting their time to this...and OF COURSE to all the terrific performers that are NOT mentioned on this page specifically. i know i got turned on to some more great local artists from this experience. it never ceases to amaze me.

I can also say with relative certainty that there will be not ONE, but TWO nationally-renowed musicians with ties to the area in attendance tonight. Intrigued? Good.
