PART ONE:- 1981
Formed in Uxbridge, as a 5 piece early summer of 81 - split Christmas 81 - reformed April 82 - recorded track 'Another Time, Another Place' for inclusion on the 'Bridge Album' sampler LP - Spent the rest of 82 upping our chops, getting in new members writing new songs - Invited by Ebony Records in Hull to contribute song to the 'Metal Warriors' sampler LP - 'We've Got The Rock' recorded Jan 83 for said LP - Invited by the man behind the Bridge Album, to record a Double A sided Single
'White Dress / Anytime' @ Fair Deal Hayes April 83 - recorded as a 4 piece then bought in new guitarist who, once again forced us to 'up our chops' (for the clueless, that's 'improve as musicians' :-} ). A brief period of almost progressive rock ensued before reverting to a 4 piece for 10 months (Sept 83-July 84) - Signed record deal with Loose Records - as a 5 piece, recorded 3 tracks for projected 12" Single Sept 84 - Had a turbulent 9 months which resulted in Lyadrive splitting up May 1985
PART TWO:- 1996
Renewed interest in all things NWOBHM (clueless? New Wave Of British Heavy Metal!) prompted us to revive Lyadrive, initially via collector record shop Vinyl Tap - progressed into a full blown CD recording, revisiting the 3 songs recorded for Loose Records + 10 new recordings of 'Lyadrive Classics' & 1 Classic NWOBHM track 'One Of These Days' (Trespass).
ANOHTHER TIME ANOTHER PLACE - Released on Minority One records summer 1998 - Finally got to play @ a major london Venue (LA2) April 99 supporting the Groundhogs & Blackfoot Sue. FATE however has never been on our side, as 40 minutes before we were due onstage, the infamous 'Nail Bomber' performed his dastardly deed. Hence all roads were closed in the area for a while & only a handful of people had made it into the venue.
The CD however had recieved generally decent reviews (see website). Encouraged by critical reaction, early in 2000 we recorded 4 new tracks (2 covers, 2 originals) which have since been available on some obscure compilations.
All went quiet until 2006, when a reunion was arranged @ which we did a recording of the 'Riot' track 'Warrior'. That went pretty well we thought .
2007 - Prompted by Lee getting married again & inviting most of the band, from far & wide, to the wedding, the opportunity arose to do some more recording! So in July 07 (between wedding & honeymoon!) 2 days were booked 2 oldies re written & 1 new song composed 'on the hoof'.
Meanwhile, thanks to this very oracle, contact was made with some influential people. At the same moment that the 3 tracks were finally mixed, we were invited to play at the BRITISH STEEL FESTIVAL 3, a NWOBHM celebration! Too good to turn down the opportunity, we set about rehearsing 40 minutes of metal mayhem!
Here we are, early May, gig played, a CD & a VINYL LP just released! Things haven't been this rosy for LYADRIVE in one heck of a long time! What next? ............................

"Wherefore do ye toil; is it not that ye may live and be happy? And if ye toil only that ye may toil more, when shall happiness find you? Ye toil to live, but is not life made of beauty and song? ... Toil without song is like a weary journey without an end. Were not death more pleasing?" -H.P.Lovecraft
