Writing, of course; reading - everything from romance to mysteries to magical realism and sf/fantasy - and all points in between; all things Irish; also history, especially Tudor and Elizabethan England. I'm also into running, gardening, cooking and photography. Eccentric hobbies - I collect oriental fans and Swedish dala horses.
Music
U2. Van Morrison. Kate Bush. The Police. The Clash (yes, I'm an aging punk). Snow Patrol. Foo Fighters. Dave Matthews Band. Imogen Heap, Jem. Joss Stone, Amy Winehouse, James Morrison. David Bowie. Also jazz, especially John Coltrane, Keith Jarrett and Miles. And classical, especially "Madam Butterfly." And even the occasional country song.
Movies
Loved the new Star Trek! I've got a crush on Spock all over again! All time favorite movie: Casablanca. On happy days: Singin' in the Rain, the Wizard of Oz, Arsenic and Old Lace, A Fish Called Wanda, Wings of Desire. Not so happy days: Don't Look Now, The Vanishing, The Conversation, Deliverance. I also love Excalibur, Blade Runner, and Alien. My favorite director is probably Ridley Scott.
Television
Burn Notice, The Big Bang Theory, Glee, Torchwood, Doctor Who. Hanging in there with Lost because I'm a total sucker for time travel plots. Missing BSG. Allowing myself to be sucked in by the weirdness that is Flashforward, but will probably regret it later.
All time favorites include: Slings and Arrows - all about a company of Shakespearean actors in Canada. Brilliant. Best TV ever, next to the Colin Firth version of Pride and Prejudice. Ultraviolet - an obscure British miniseries about Vampires. And Sex and the City.
Guilty pleasures - Dancing With the Stars, What Not to Wear, and of course, Spongebob Squarepants.
Books
Where to begin? I am a book slut. If it is printed on paper and between two covers, I will at least try to read it. Actually, it doesn't even need to be that good. I will read cereal boxes if there's nothing else around. A few of them have been more entertaining than some novels I've read.

Which Jane Austen Character Are You?
You are Eliza Bennett from Pride and Prejudice! Yay, you! Perhaps the brightest and best character in all of English literature, you are intelligent, lively, lovely-- in short, you are the best of company. Your only foibles are that you stick with your first impressions... and your family is quite intolerable. Take this quiz!
I'm a writer, wife and mom - although not necessarily in that order. I'm a city girl trapped in Green Acres. Sharing my captivity are the tall, dark and handsome Matt; the always loud and very creative Chris, future astrophysicist or heavy metal drummer; and of course, Tiger, the lethargic wonder cat.
In my other life as a journalist, my feature articles have appeared in major daily and weekly newspapers. Remember those? My short stories and poetry have been published in a few obscure literary mags that you've never heard of. At various times in my life, I've also been a child model, an actress, a stagehand, a secretary, a seller of ladies' lingerie and - in a brief fit of practicality, a computer programmer.
