Interests

  • General

..Song-writing, playing Mandolin, enjoying a good cup of java with friends (or a good bottle of scotch), walking barefoot at the beautiful beach at Inverhuron, watching the waves roll into shore, watching the sun set and talking til sunrise and wondering where that lite is coming from, connecting with old friends, trying not to take "time" or the concept of tomorrow for granted because tomorrow is not a guarantee, enjoying time at the cottage, trying to figure out what a certain cloud looks like, painting white walls white and trying to figure out what still needs to be done. Most importantly is spending time with the people that matter the most in my life..carpe diem!! Never lose hope or give up on your dreams because they can come true when you least expect them to....talking from experience here!!!
  • Music

..Luv any bluegrass music especially Larry Sparks, Allison Kraus, Dave Evans, Charlie Sizemore, Keith Whitley, Jimmy Martin (and the Sunny Mntn Boys), Ralph Stanley, Doyle Lawson, Bluegrass Cardinals, David Parmley, and of course the late great Bill Monroe. Other favs include: SIR Elton John, Jann Arden, Joni Mitchell, Amanda Marshall, Joss Stone, and Sarah McLaughlin. Favorite country artists include, Dixie Chicks, Dolly, Terri Clark, George, Merle, and "the" Gill.
  • Movies

I really enjoyed "Death Becomes Her" (I have a quirky sense of humour
  • Television

..I'm a reality show fanatic but have had no time to watch TV at all lately! When I have time I love Survivor, Big Brother & Amazing Race. ALso Monk, Shark, CSI Las Vegas, and any of the Law & Order series.
  • Books

Anything by Sue Grafton (own them all), Tami Hoag, Lisa Gardiner, also anything by Ed McBain, J.A. Jance, or Michael Connelly. ..
  • Heroes

..My mom is my biggest heroe!! She is a cancer survivor and has faced many battles...I've learned so much from her...THANKS MOM!! Musically that would be Bill Monroe, Jimmy Martin, Ralph Stanley, Larry Sparks, Garret Doyle (sending you lotsa love and prayers and hope U get better quick buddy so we can write some tunes!!), AMANDA MARSHALL, Dolly Parton, Jann Arden, Gary Buck (I miss ya lots!), Vince Gill, Joni Mitchell, Allison Kraus.------ My everday heroes: Mike aka "WHEATIE"!!!!:-))), Sharon aka "pebblehead"(thanks so much for all your help when I was recovering from surgery..I OWE U!!!), Kiki, "Muffy", Keith Stirling, Ms. "KLINKY KOFFEE", K.O...who knew!! About me:

.. Hi Bluegrass/acoustic music bands! My name is Linda Axman and I co-host a radio show called "THE BLUERIDGE EXPRESS" with Dan Joseph every Wednesday nite from 7:30pm til 8:30pm (eastern time)on CKWR 98.5fm. We are always looking for material for the show. For those of you out of the listening area, you can go to www.ckwr.com and click on "listen live" during those times to hear us. If you have material that you would like to have some airplay, please send to the station: Linda Axman/Blueridge Express c/o CKWR 98.5 FM 375 University Avenue East, Waterloo, Ontario Canada N2K3M7. You can also contact me thru e-mail at blueridge@ckwr.com Thanks!!!!______________________________________________________________________________________________________________________________I've just added a new song called "PATHWAY TO GOODBYE". It's a song that was written by Paula Manderson and myself one morning (3am)at my cottage. The song was recorded by Robbie Arsenault and is on his new country CD "Eighteen Wheels". You can check out Robbie's site to hear two other songs I co-wrote with Robbie including "Don't Look Back" and a bluegrass song called "LET ME WALK AWAY". Check 'em out at www.myspace.com/robbiearsenault and hope you enjoy!! __________________________________________________________________________"No Talk Talkin' is a song a co-wrote with my friends Charity Brown and Kathe Johnston. Check out Charity's website and give it a spin at www.sonicbids.com/charitybrownband or on her new my-space site (She's in my top friends..just click to link) ---------------------------------------------------------------------------------------Hi and howdee all!! I'm a songwriter and musician (on and off for the past too many years to mention)playing mandolin in traditional and non-traditional bluegrass bands. I think people that listen to bluegrass music are some of the finest people I've ever met....truly down-to-earth and appreciative of this music form. Have done studio work on 4 albums and really enjoyed that! Co-hosted a bluegrass radio show for 18 years but had to quit due to family committments...but am back on the air again as of April 2008. Was fortunate enough to do interviews with Bill Monroe, Larry Sparks, Ricky Skaggs, Allison Kraus (after she had just won her first IBMA award!), and Jimmy Martin. I was also on the board of directors for the Canadian Country Music Hall of Fame and worked with Gary Buck. I was responsible for display set-up and cataloguing artifacts. My most memorable event while at the Hall of Fame was one nite when I was working late, I heard the door chime and went to see who it was. A tall man was standing there in a black jacket holding a suit bag. I opened the door and just about fell over when I was greeted with "Hi I'm Johnny Cash and I'd like to donate a black jacket and a camera to the Hall of Fame...I always loved coming to Canada and taking pictures". He was playing at Lulu's Roadhouse across the way and just thought he'd drop in to see the place before showtime. I must say what a humble and sincere man he was!! It's too bad cell phones didn't have cameras back then!! Love when I have time to sit down and write with my buddies! I've written mostly country and bluegrass tunes but lately have been working on some blues songs and some more trendy pop stuff. I've co-written with Jim Collette, Gary Buck, Robbie Arsenault, Carl Goodman, Nora Galloway, Peter Judd, Paula Manderson, Charity Brown, Bobby Nicholas, Pam Brooks-Armstrong, K.O., and Kathe Johnston. Some of the songs that I've co-written that have been recorded include: "Living in a World of Make Believe" (Cathy Dale)(Vicki Deslaurier)(Robbie Arsenault), "No Talk Talkin'"(Charity Brown), "Don't Forget the Blues"(Lee Ann Allison), "Did it Ever Cross Your Mind" (Stacey Lynn), "High Flyin" (Carl Goodman & Co.), "Let Me Walk Away", "Don't Look Back", "Pathway to Goodbye" (Robbie Arsenault), "I'll Be Your Rock" (demo by Mary Anne Epp aka Hippie Chic), "Only Soldier" (Charity Brown),NEW RELEASE "Month of Sundays" (Pam Armstrong and Lonesome Wind). ___________________________________________________________ ___ I approach life with a sense of humour and dislike pretence......life is meant to be enjoyed! I find humour in the weirdest of situations (my friends will vouch for that!). And I truly believe that friends are our greatest blessings in life...and I thank my friends for seeing me thru so much and just for being there ...I love you all!!! ___________________________________________________________ __ "Life isn't about how to survive the storm, but how to dance in the rain." _____________________________________________________________ "LIFE IS TOO SHORT FOR DRAMA AND PETTY THINGS SO LAUGH HARD, LOVE TRULY AND FORGIVE QUICKLY. LIVE WHILE YOU'RE ALIVE!!!FORGIVE NOW THOSE WHO MADE YOU CRY FOR YOU MAY NOT GET A SECOND CHANCE"!!!! ------------------------------------------------------------- "Only put off until tomorrow what you are willing to die having left undone" (Pablo Picasso)
