About me: Cincinnati's Best Spoken Word Artist Showcase. The Lyrical Insurrection features artist speaking on the interconnectedness and upheaval of a corporate commercial society.
We use art to leave an impression upon the memory faculties of the mind where they will be rehearsed replayed in the imagination and in turn replayed in the action of the people.
We fashion our words as daggers and spears so that all may hear the call of the Defenders of Truth. We welcome ages 16 and up to attend the showcase,and have featured artists as young as 14 years old.
The Lyrical Insurrection was voted best open mic in the city of Cincinnati in "Cincinnati Magazine" and "City Beat". We've performed for Black Ice from Def Poetry, had many other Def Poets grace our stage, and Umar Bin Hassan of The Last Poets as well. We've performed in Columbus, Yellow Springs, Texas, Atlanta, Chicago, NYC and various venues in Cincinnati etc. You can hear us every Sat night on the 1230 the Buzz. The Insurrection Artist Network provides a safe environment for artist and viewers to enjoy night life safely and with a purpose. Enlightening entertainment. Dress to impress yourself! You are in the company of divine artistry!
We intend to use the strength of word to awaken the masses and give society something different. Its more than an open mic its a way of life.
Who I'd like to meet: Anyone, that wants to build community, network, are learned and versed in the supreme math, allahbets, Holy Qur'an Holy Torah, Kabbalah, Abjad, tree of life regardless of race, gender, skill, sexual preference, etc, is welcome to attend the Lyrical Insurrection and perform in the open mic portion of the Showcase, but in order to be featured, the artist must have (or be building) a personal following. Now we're shifting gears and about to enter the holiday season and begin work on our holiday revue "Deck the Halls". THE CREW will be featured on Nov 29,2009 as apart of Children's Hospitals' "Stocking Stuffers Ball - A benefit concert for the music therepy department" and THE CREW needs two singer/dancers.
