...... .. .. .. .. .......... ..British Flag MySpace Layouts Gallery!......Create Your Own Layout Here!.... .. .. .......... ....UK ARTISTS "LIVE" is..... Oi !!!! Welcome! Intrigued with the music and the local color I soaked in following a visit to England ages ago, it became my dream (Lyric's dream!) to showcase UK artists . As an on-air presenter and station ID diva for various internet radio programming, I felt it essential to offer a personable approach, intimate, if you will. This desire came to fruition here in February, 2006 and has been raging on ever since that moment. Somehow, this site became an underground phenomena with BBC Radio Stoke's MATT AND DAVE's 'SUBCULTURE', whilst featuring the very hot Stoke band, "VOICES MADE ME DO IT", R.I.P.---hearing from SIRIUS RADIO who inquired my our featured artists and consequently offered several said 'featured artists' radio exposure. UNKNOWN RECORDS,UK, a sister label to GEFFEN took note when we had over 6700 hits in a few hours' time featuring a band from Stoke, "VOICES MADE ME DO IT" and signed them. I won't say that I was particularly pleased with how they managed the outcome for that band, however, this site was getting a great deal of attention, and really, all that we had in mind was simply presenting something FRESH and UNIQUE on myspace!!! I make no vapid promises here, good things just happen to those featured on my site, that simple.......... WHY I RUN THIS SITE:....THIS IS THE VERY FIRST AND ORIGINAL "FEATURED ARTIST SITE" on MYSPACE, whilst others feature only the tunes, this site features brilliant and engaging interviews, getting artists noticed by the powers that 'be', with visuals and much more. A certain very popular site actually kiped (*stole) their 'featured artist' concept from me,then I noted it happening on every music site! However they continue to lack the personal touch with an elegant platform offering visuals, music AND engaging and intelligent interviews..This is a unique musician-supported site, designed for the great unsigned artists of the UK! .... At "UK Artists 'LIVE', artists have an elegant platform with an opportunity to express themselves via professionally-composed personal introductions to compliment each artist with in-depth and intelligent interviews by your seasoned and internationally respected journalist, Ms. Lyric LaCeile. ....This site is intended to educate the reader-listener on every genre. We welcome other members of press; musicians; DJ's; recording studios; festival coordinators;on-air presenters, fans of UK music and the like.. ...........WELCOME TO LYRIC LaCEILE ‘S UNITED KINGDOM 'FEATURED' ARTISTS "LIVE"!........FOR YOUR VISUAL PLEASURE, A SLIDE SHOW OF PREVIOUSLY FEATURED ARTISTS!............ .. .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ...... FEATURE PENDING 'CUPBOARD WOLVES'! --Lyric LaCeile and UK Artists "LIVE" PRESENTING "Cupboard Wolves", with a most scintillating interview, provocative visuals, ... hypnotic, quixotic lyrics, sexy, seductive vocals, superb arrangements and a melodic cluster-f**k to push your mind to the brink of insanity !!! .......... .... .... ........UK ARTISTS PRESENTS, ”CUPBOARD WOLVES” of Liverpool .... .... .......... ....Drum duties: Jez taylor, based in Deeside,Wales.... Richie : most fabulous songwriter/shredding guitarist of St. Helens, , Liverpool..p> Rick , - bassist extraordinaire, from Liverpool.... Greedy: addictive and highly gifted singer & songwriter , Liverpool, Everton district.... Jez: Beyond and above all drummers, consummate pro! .... ..Band email: cupboardwolves@hotmail.co.uk...... .. Introduction, “CUPBOARD WOLVES”, by Lyric La Ceile...... “Cupboard Wolves” was formed by songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire Richie Yates, Jane Chisnall and Laura Caseberry in 2007. A truly captivating line-up with only a few changes over the past three years, they’ve most definitely progressed into proficient musicianship and songwriting achievement... Noting the genius in the tracks produced, anything illegally dropped into their pints unawares to them whilst putting down these tracks is entirely possible, with the added bonus of a trance induced by a possible apparition of Jim Morrison, (whom I had personal experience with as a child and do not take lightly as mentioned) the inimitable “Jaco”, and an astral projection of Lou Reed floating round somewhere in the studio…... Often moody, sometimes a bit blissful , with unanticipated injections of tasty, funk-filled bass lines and snappy guitar riffs (notably in “Panic Attack”), melancholy lyrics graduating into near-cacophonic rage, promising to engage and intrigue the listener, “Cupboard Wolves” promises and delivers to their audiences euphoria from which they will resist ever coming down from …... .. .. .. .. .. .. .. ..........THE TUNES...... ..Track 1-“Panic Attack”.. With its edgy, riffy, raw bass lines and screaming, waling guitars addresses mental illness with a most crucial element, humour!.... ..Track 2, “1981”-Ritchie brings his lush, infectious grooves laced with a touch of mid-career Robby Krieger if you will, circa 1966... “1981” reflects the intense frustration and civil unrest with the 1981 Toxteth riots in Liverpool-with unemployment in Britain at a 50-yr high, in 1981, these racially-charged riots which poured over into a broader scope as a former-upper-class neighborhood became a destitute area infamous for crime. ...... Track 3- Power Poppy..- Deliciously gloomy, emphasis on Richie’s solo lends the power to this lotus popper!............ Track 4-Fear of Falling-.. Dejected yet poignant bass grooves and powerful, luscious lyrics. ........ 5-“Columbian Disco Remix (Of Twilight ‘s Last Gleaming).. A frenzied ecstasy-induced experience, evocative of early 89’ Peckham High Street’s “Green Circus”,( in which regular gigs/parties were held in the building every second Saturday of each month. Upstairs was a large live gig room, and downstairs was a rave music DJ set up.) 'Colombian Disco Remix' is actually a up-tempo remix of “Twilight's Last Gleaming” – Some might find it a bit commercial, done strictly for a bit of fun. It doesn't remotely reflect the original style or their music in general but is an interesting curveball.......”CUPBOARD WOLVES” INTERVIEW By LYRIC LA CEILE, UK ARTIST ‘LIVE’ ........ Lyric: Welcome all! Richie, the moody, melancholy bliss with a twist of super-funky guitars sent me back into an early 60’s “DOORS” inspired trance, what does it take in terms of relevance and synergy to send you and your tribe into this marvelous tune-trance ?? .... Richie: We are interested in looking at things differently from the consensus, we like to explore the gamut of emotions induced by lyrics and melodies. .. ..Lyric: I recognise this anywhere, daughter of a jazz legacy that I am; There is an unmistakable jazz influence in your approach to guitar, as well as a funk-influence. Name a few who inspired you to reach this point of extreme musicianship. .... Richie: So many but...Daevid Allen; ..Lyric: Daevid Allen, as in ‘DAEVID ALLEN TRIO’ inspired by Sun Ra and William S. Burroughs? Darling, you now you have my respect and admiration even more so….carry on..... Richie: Jimi Hendrix, er , jazz influences would be Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius. .... Lyric: Sorry, interrupting again, must, Jaco? His intricate solos in the higher register , the fretless bass, well, I swoon. Without realising it, you actually wrote his swan song for him, albeit decades after the fact, with your track three, “Panic Attack”. “Panic Attack” is my fave on so many levels. The easy “Ocean Blue” melodic flow with a definitive funk groove on Richie’s guitar, swaying drums of darling Jez, warm and your delicious bass lines from Greedy’s thoughtful vocals which vacillate from mellow to cacophonic that works well for me, positively orgasmic. Thousand pardons, had to speak up there. Okay, had my say. The title of this ambitious, or not, new effort ??.... Richie: The CD will be finished this Autumn when Rick comes back and will be called ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ (unless we change our minds, you know what musicians are like...).... Lyric: Don’t I ever! More than you could possibly imagine, my darling. Just read my personal page. Where might the salivating and curious public get a tasting of this fabulous morsel for the mind, and when? .... Richie: We are on Facebook, MySpace and various music sites. We primarily use MySpace at this time: http://www.myspace.com/cupboardwolves .. ..Lyric: Two-parter question here: So the cd is only available via where? Love to hear where the cd was recorded and mixed, and if done out-of-studio, what programs were used ?.... Richie: We are not currently selling our songs online (as far as I am aware). We will be digitally distributing 'Smoke and Mirrors' but for the purposes of our current promo CD we are keeping it simple. ‘Give Us A Howl’ cd’s are currently on sale at gigs. They will shortly be available to buy via our website too with free P&P. In the meantime, anyone who wants to buy one but can't make it to a gig should just contact us through any channel and we will be happy to oblige! As for the cd itself, it was recorded at Vulcan Studios Liverpool by our brilliant engineer, Gary. “Cubase” was utilised with Rick’s reproduction using Logic Pro 9. .... Lyric: I see “Pro-Tools” in your undoubtedly successful future. I find that most guitarists utilise the tube amp…with good reason. My father insisted upon them. With tube amps being quite linear (notably triodes) and pertaining the ability to use them in low distortion linear circuits, would you say Richie that you prefer them to solid state amps?.... Richie: Yes - my favourite amp would be an Vox AC 30 (I had two but my then manager sold them to Brian Adams)!.... Lyric: Then we now know it tis’ in good hands, do we not? What’s in future for replaced gear? .... Richie: Currently I am interchanging my equipment and will probably get a ‘Marshall’ tube head preferably JCM range..... Lyric: Again, the majority of musicians I know, (in the tens of thousands) insist upon a Marshall tube head…. Nice one! So my dear Jez, how did you locate these and colourful characters, or like me, are you simply a social magnet for the certifiable yet utterly brilliant artistes? .... JEZ: I read a blog on Liverpool bands friends site from 'Greedy' (our singer/ co-songwriter) who was advertising for a 'drum legend' - always quite unnerving reading that!!! .... Lyric: What? Unnerving? Good god man, you are a legend in your own time, let us call a spade a spade. If you don’t fully realise or accept that, well, I’m endorsing said statement right damned now..... JEZ: (smiles) I’d seen Greedy around cyber space quite a lot on a friend’s band space , checked out his band, ‘Cupboard Wolves’. I totally dug the track 'Fear of Falling', got in touch and 3 weeks later we recorded the newer version of it. Well pleased. Tony Dogherty works so hard for the local music scene, he got '1981' played on the Dave Monks show BBC Radio Merseyside..... Lyric: I knew this gang would be the setting of good things to come. Richie, how on earth did you meet up with Jez in the sea of musicians of ‘myspaceland’ ?.... Richie: We met Jez through a MySpace website which acts as a forum/gig guide/help to the Liverpool music scene. Its run by Tony Dogherty (a great guy) located at http://www.myspace.com/liverpoolbandsfriends. When our drummer left, Tony posted that we were looking for a new one and Jez spotted it. He auditioned, got the job, recorded the tracks he sent you and played his first gigs with us in the space of a week. .... Lyric: Fast work, boys! That would be due to the consummate musicianship of our lovely Jezzo. I’ve followed his talent for a few years, and been more than deeply impressed. Greedy, (lead vox/co-songwriter) your visionary and yes, vanguard approach to songwriting is often gritty with a blithe tone, and a rare & remarkable honesty; it emanates from every word that you breathe. Whom do you call upon as your muse(s) if any?.... Greedy: Firstly thanks, what a wonderfully phrased question. My beard swells with blushing pride as I type! My muses are Dogstar*, friends, family, the wolves, but more significantly, conversations with strangers. As for influences - on a vocal performance front: Jim Morrison, Robert Plant, Freddie Mercury, Tom Waites, Morrisey. Song writing, style-wise I'm on a strict 'Smiths meets Leonard Cohen and Lou Reed' diet so I suppose that's the blithe tone and honesty vibe. I've seen enough at this stage to realise that: “ life is ecstasy and disappointment and love has a beauty like quicksand”. .... Lyric: PROFONDITY ABOUNDS!.... GREEDY: All good healthy positive stuff. Outwardly, I'm always happy as a kipper..... Lyric: As am I. So, tell me, co-songweaver and extaordinary vox man, did you have songs dancing like little monkeys inside your head as a small child? You have this apparent natural instinct that cannot be taught, I hear this as a child and adult spending endless hours in studio with my father and a million artists) and if formal training indeed were involved, (I would be shocked otherwise), do tell! .... Greedy: I've always sung, from way back when I was young and hair-free. I first got up and sang with a band aged 14 in Flannigan’s Apple on Mathew Street by the Cavern. I hadn't strictly been invited but an Irish band were murdering “Hey Joe” and back then I could get pissed on a Fiver and I had spent £12 that night!!! .... Lyric: Ha! Thank you for the rescue, no one murders “Hey Joe” and lives to sing about it, … on you go..... GREEDY: No formal training was ever involved, I was born to sing. It's never gone away, it just gets stronger. It is a natural ability but has taken almost 18 years of singing in bands and solo to find the inspirational Richie, Jez and Rick, which has kicked it on. .. We seem to cross music genres mid-song which keeps me on my paws but has pushed me further and improved my vocal range massively. It's not all bass!! Singing with a great live band behind you is the best feeling in the world, music is reactive, interactive and unpredictable. .... Lyric: Your eloquence absolutely rocks my world. Richie?.... Richie: Yes - I did, music was always around me and my mother had been a broomstick bass player in a 50s skiffle group!.. Lyric: Cool! So as the genesis of this effort in the songwriter category, your approach? Whom, if anyone or anything, do you call upon as your muse(s)? (Must ask of all bands, I am a well-supported muse myself to many artists!).... Richie: The songs are written by the group though as the longest serving member I've contributed more at the moment. It seems that we are all quite aligned musically, I actually 'hunted' Greedy down as a singer after hearing him perform solo acoustic sets and offered him the singer job as I knew he had the right voice for what we were trying to say..... Lyric: Jez, (drummer) You have the willowy approach to the drums like an early jazz great, Billy Cobham with a swirl of Keith Moon off drugs…..... JEZ: Well I cannot really say I’ve ever followed any certain style. I was quite ignorant when I started playing and wasn’t really living and breathing drums, I was blissfully unaware that it was just something I liked to do, I was listening to lots of varied music at an early age, I was more interested in 'the sound' than the 'actual drummer'. A bit later on the first drummers I sort of learnt about were Rick Buckler from ‘The Jam’ and ‘Larry Mullen Jr. and’ ‘U’2. I guess Larry's probably my biggest influence, as I’m a sucker for a perfectly placed 'subtle' off beat! Yeah, Larry's the man!! .... Lyric: It all makes sense now. The early fills and drum rolls, to a later fondness for drum machines, the floor tom and its rhythmic, tribal feel….(educating the readers here) So Rick, (bassist extraordinaire) I find that most guitarists and bassist utilise and have a warm preference for the tube amp…With tube amps being quite linear (notably triodes) and ability to use them in low distortion linear circuits, do you prefer them to solid state amps?.... Rick: I, like the majority of guitarists and bassists, really appreciate the rich, smooth tone and natural, warm overdrive a tube amplifier provides. However, beyond the sound itself, for me there's also something very special about all analogue sound equipment. Whether it's a tube amplifier, record player or vintage analogue synthesizer, I think they have a sentimental value that you don't often find with digital equipment..... Lyric: I’m in the tube arena with my little flying V bass..... Rick: That said, I'm not a snob when it comes to amplifiers, and we live in modern (and economically challenging) times! Accordingly I am currently using a solid-state Line 6 bass amp which I have found to be outstanding. Whilst I won't fall in love with it, I know it will never let me down. It's reliable, extremely flexible and has a wonderfully smooth but edgy tone which I now rely on all the time..... Lyric: Any early influences that stand out in your mind, and your own style’s definition? .... Rick: I probably don't have the typical bassist mentality. In fact, most of what I do musically on the bass is not influenced by other bassists but by my experience as a classically trained pianist. As Richie would say, I don't think in terms of frets and scales... I think in terms of the overall chord the band is producing and where the root of that should be. My playing tends to lean towards arpeggiated lines without many scales, another hangover from piano playing. .. I also like to utilise as much of the fret board as possible, which has led to a few melodic bass lines in high registers on the bass (e.g. Fear of Falling). To get back to the point, if I think hard about it, I suppose my main influences on bass would be Christopher Wolstenholme of ‘Muse’, Flea of ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’ and when it comes to 'blow your socks off' riffs - it would have to Tom Morello and Tim Commerford of ‘Rage Against The Machine’..... Lyric: That’s what makes me love you. FRETBOARDS, FRETLESS, you got me babe! Aside from your outstanding bass performance in ‘Cupboard Wolves’, any artists you’ve played with that you are most proud of ? You demonstrate impressive and extreme musicianship..... Rick: Thanks, and I like the sound of ‘extreme musicianship’ - does that involve jumping out of a plane with a grand piano?.... Lyric: YOU! I adore you already. Don’t even get me going on ‘x’ sports, I live and breathe for the seasonal thrill, no piano destruction , land it well!.... Rick: As the youngest person in the band I am definitely the least seasoned, and “Cupboard Wolves” is my first major outing on the music scene. I don't think there are any artists for me to mention at this point but, hopefully if you ask me again in five years I'll have an impressive list!.... Lyric: Gorgeous. And he’s humble. Every play an upright? They’re tough, nothing moves me like the resonance and warmth of an upright bass. .... Rick: Yes, a few times. They're wonderful instruments. I once performed Dave Brubeck's “Take Five” on the piano with a jazz trio. .... Lyric: I could smell the jazz in you. Brubeck was in face one of the keenest concerts of the thousands I’ve attended in my life…with ’Jay and Kai at Newport’, grab that LP if you can locate it, a rare one, I have it..... Rick: The guy on the double bass looked like he was having the most fun and had me interested straight away. I'd like to own one but don't have the space or funds at the moment. I mentioned getting an electric upright bass to Richie once - he gave me a rather concerned look, and then I forgot about it. But thanks for reminding me!.... Lyric: Absolutely. I would recognize this anywhere, daughter of a jazz legacy that I am; There is an unmistakable jazz influence in your approach to guitar. Name a few who inspired you to reach this point of extreme musicianship! .... RICK: Influences that made me take up bass, well, Muse for one; Red Hot Chile Peppers, Rage Against the Machine, notably, as they all use bass differently but cast a notable affect on my playing. Muse=arpeggiated, repetitive lines,(i.e., New Born) with obviously catchy bass lines. Also harmonically -Muse bass often completes harmony rather than being its own part, my example: “Twighlight’s Last Gleaming” solo section. Flea is phenomenal, I love his trebly stuff, he uses the whole guitar and not just as a bass instrument, noted in our tune, 'Fear of Falling. RATM, pure, rythmic, bass driven, knock your knickers off, riffy bass in your face. My example ‘1981’, even though Ritchie wrote that riff!!!.. ..Lyric: Thank you for the elaboration. It is vital to express the movement inside that inspires the outside…Any other tracks you’re working on at this time? .... RICK: We currently have a cute 3-track CD called 'Give Us A Howl'. It was originally produced as a demo to send to promoters, etc, but we were quite pleased with the results and decided to sell it as well. The idea of the CD is that it definitely is not our first EP, but rather a 'Promotional and Fundraising CD'. The sales proceeds are all being pumped directly into buying studio time in order to professionally record our first EP in proper - working title 'Smoke and Mirrors'. We have our first recording session booked in for 6 August, which is also Greedy's birthday. So should be a good day! We hope to have our EP released this Autumn..... Lyric: And well deserved it is, Happiest returns of the day in advance, Greedy! Jez, how was the audition for “THE HUB FEST”? .... JEZ: “The Hub Fest”, a big skaters/graffiti artists (teen fest) festival on the Albert Dock Liverpool would offer us the op to perform to 5000 people, I’m more worried about dropping my arse in front of sooo many people than I am of dropping my sticks haha, you know I’m only kidding - build us a stage and we'll give it loads... Well then, we get to the rehearsal rooms around 6 pm, we practice the 2 chosen tracks a couple of times over and were happy and ready to go. So comes the rather tedious task - I have to dismantle half the kit and drag its sorry arse ( with a 'mood on' cos i really hate with a passion the logistics involved with drumming) down from the fourth floor of our rehearsal room, well we have a lift but ‘potato potarto’, I still have to drag the bugger with me. So we arrive at the venue which is only about 3 miles from r/rooms, a place just up from the dock road which runs along the River Mersey..... Lyric: “Ferry cross the Mersey”! Excuse me there, had a moment of nostalgia. What a fright night..... JEZ: So we all get shown to a 'dressing room', all seems to be going well, we check out the stage and it looks well.........then some girl who is running the event says there must have been some mistake, as all the entrants must be 24 years or under lol, so to cut a long story short, no HUB FEST..... Lyric: This incident has a resounding tone! If I had a ‘euro’ (ech, who thought that would work out!) for every band’s nightmare gig, I’d be flusher than the crazy monarchy. Well, bit of an exaggeration but really! Thankfully you retained your sense of humour…I’m so sorry that happened, drag-o-rama. .... JEZ: We all find it hilarious and instantly shout 'PUB' lol, but Richie who set us up with the gig wasn’t so impressed and didn’t really see the joke lol, I think he was a little embarrassed as he set it up but didn’t read the small print. .... Lyric: Gotta read that pesky ‘small print’….... JEZ: So it was straight to the pub were we all ripped the piss out of Ritchie for ages haha, myself saying next week we should audition for an s club junior event. He got the joke in the end and it turned out to be a great night. .... Lyric: I’d be straight to the pub…and then some. You’ll be tellin’ this to the grandbabies one day. For my own entertainment, name me three things that you determine have saved ‘Rock-n Roll’ and riddle me three things have ruined it..... JEZ: ' Hmmm that is so tough, I don’t think its in danger that much it needs to be saved but.........I guess its watered down a lot now, we all know and loved the golden age..... Lyric: Honey, that ‘age’ stopped with Elizabeth I… Had to barb there. I am with you a thousand percent. The ‘Golden Age’ here ended in 1992. Sad, so sad. Not so much for me, I was there for it all ! .... JEZ: I guess a lot of it now is presented in a way that its - 'were' acceptable. I suppose though if I actually made a lot of money from this 'hobby' and woke up in some hotel room after a gig on a world tour, still f***ed from the night before with 4 ‘call girls’ cooking my breakfast I could answer it better!!!.... Lyric: NAUGHTY! Back to question, you!.... JEZ: What ruined it? The only thing I can think at hand is the death of Keith Moon, but does that keep the legend of rock n roll alive! I’ve just finished reading 'Dear Boy - The Life of Keith Moon', its really sad-sometimes I felt I was reading about myself, but with a hell of a lot less substance abuse and much more quality drumming!!.. There was a great man who - if ‘bi-pola’ was around then he would have been the first case. Lyric: Oh, Bi-Polar cases were all round, my darling friend, they just didn’t speak of it, and placed you in a horrid place known as a ‘snake pit’ with other dangerous psychotics, feeding you up with a heavy opiate known as “Laudanum”. JEZ: OOH! He went through lots of stages but get this, he went through a Noel Coward stage, were he'd dress in paisley pg's and silk smoking jacket in the back of a milk float he bought and fitted the back of it out with wall paper and mini bar, a man after me own heart! (laughing loudly) That’s the trouble though with myspace - or I think people in general, 'please listen to this' 'please leave a comment, then kiss my arse - all superstars they must be!!!!!.... Lyric: Tiresome, isn’t it? Why think you I’ve been MIA here for like, two years? But I’m baaaaackkkk! You’ve all inspired me to pay more attention to my beloved artists and site here, so I thank you! Well my loves, many many thanks to one and all for spending time with me, it has been a delight and an intense pleasure. I trust you will share with me all about the revels of Greedy’s birthday, and keep in touch! .. .... ...... She had to read bios and listen on the reel to reel demos back then , and asked what she throw into the trash first , she answered in crystal recollection:"If the demo didn't grab me in the first two bars it was history!" Sonicbids is an Artist and Promoters Worst Nightmare
Recently we began a trial usage of Sonicbids service for our artist and band searches.
As a result of that test it became clear that Sonicbids is all about earning money at the expense of artists looking to break through the wall that surrounds the music industry.
Based on our experiences from both the perspective of artists we are associated with seeking to benefit from opportunities offered though Sonicbids. As well as from the perspective of promoters searching for talent through Sonicbids service.
We have concluded that Sonicbids operation is nothing more than another one of these money making SCAMS that is generating as much as $8,000,000.00 a year for Sonicbids at the expense of artists and bands paying subscription fees on top of submission fees to be considered by promoters utilizing Sonicbids services. Of which many of these Promoters are running nothing but a SCAM on artists or bands that apply.
First, you should be aware of where the money goes. For every dollar an Artist or Band pays for Sonicbids’ subscription fees, it goes directly into Sonicbids pockets. Second, the first $100.00 of every listing by a promoter, as well as 50% of all fees you pay for any listing also goes directly into the pockets of Sonicbids. This means that Sonicbids is, by our estimation, pocketing over 75% of all monies collect from unsuspecting artists and bands.
We also believe that for every band that pursues any individual opportunity at least 50 artists or bands have applied for it, and in some cases 1,000’s of artist or bands. And in many instances after paying the fees and being selected the artist or band finds out they have to pay additional fees to be included, or they will receive a notice from the promoter telling them that even if they weren’t selected, if they want to pay hundreds or thousands of dollars they can still be included in the opportunity.

UK ARTISTS "LIVE" is..... Oi !!!! I make no vapid promises here, good things just happen to those featured on my site, that simple....
WHY I RUN THIS SITE:THIS IS THE VERY FIRST AND ORIGINAL "FEATURED ARTIST SITE" on MYSPACE, whilst others feature only the tunes, this site features brilliant and engaging interviews, getting artists noticed by the powers that 'be', with visuals and much more. At "UK Artists 'LIVE', artists have an elegant platform with an opportunity to express themselves via professionally-composed personal introductions to compliment each artist with in-depth and intelligent interviews by your seasoned and internationally respected journalist, Ms. Lyric LaCeile. This site is intended to educate the reader-listener on every genre. We welcome other members of press; musicians; DJ's; recording studios; festival coordinators;on-air presenters, fans of UK music and the like.. .

Introduction, “CUPBOARD WOLVES”, by Lyric La Ceile
“Cupboard Wolves” was formed by songwriter/guitarist extraordinaire Richie Yates, Jane Chisnall and Laura Caseberry in 2007. A truly captivating line-up with only a few changes over the past three years, they’ve most definitely progressed into proficient musicianship and songwriting achievement.
Noting the genius in the tracks produced, anything illegally dropped into their pints unawares to them whilst putting down these tracks is entirely possible, with the added bonus of a trance induced by a possible apparition of Jim Morrison, (whom I had personal experience with as a child and do not take lightly as mentioned) the inimitable “Jaco”, and an astral projection of Lou Reed floating round somewhere in the studio….
Often moody, sometimes a bit blissful , with unanticipated injections of tasty, funk-filled bass lines and snappy guitar riffs (notably in “Panic Attack”), melancholy lyrics graduating into near-cacophonic rage, promising to engage and intrigue the listener, “Cupboard Wolves” promises and delivers to their audiences euphoria from which they will resist ever coming down from ….
.. THE TUNES
Track 1-“Panic Attack” With its edgy, riffy, raw bass lines and screaming, waling guitars addresses mental illness with a most crucial element, humour!
Track 2, “1981”-Ritchie brings his lush, infectious grooves laced with a touch of mid-career Robby Krieger if you will, circa 1966.
Track 3- Power Poppy- Deliciously gloomy, emphasis on Richie’s solo lends the power to this lotus popper!
Track 4-Fear of Falling- Dejected yet poignant bass grooves and powerful, luscious lyrics.
5-“Columbian Disco Remix (Of Twilight ‘s Last Gleaming) A frenzied ecstasy-induced experience, evocative of early 89’ Peckham High Street’s “Green Circus”,( in which regular gigs/parties were held in the building every second Saturday of each month. Upstairs was a large live gig room, and downstairs was a rave music DJ set up.) 'Colombian Disco Remix' is actually a up-tempo remix of “Twilight's Last Gleaming” – Some might find it a bit commercial, done strictly for a bit of fun. It doesn't remotely reflect the original style or their music in general but is an interesting curveball. ”CUPBOARD WOLVES” INTERVIEW By LYRIC LA CEILE, UK ARTIST ‘LIVE’
Lyric: Welcome all! Richie, the moody, melancholy bliss with a twist of super-funky guitars sent me back into an early 60’s “DOORS” inspired trance, what does it take in terms of relevance and synergy to send you and your tribe into this marvelous tune-trance ??
Richie: We are interested in looking at things differently from the consensus, we like to explore the gamut of emotions induced by lyrics and melodies.
Lyric: I recognise this anywhere, daughter of a jazz legacy that I am; There is an unmistakable jazz influence in your approach to guitar, as well as a funk-influence. Name a few who inspired you to reach this point of extreme musicianship.
Richie: So many but...Daevid Allen;
Lyric: Daevid Allen, as in ‘DAEVID ALLEN TRIO’ inspired by Sun Ra and William S. Burroughs? Darling, you now you have my respect and admiration even more so….carry on.
Richie: Jimi Hendrix, er , jazz influences would be Miles Davis, Jaco Pastorius.
The title of this ambitious, or not, new effort ??
Richie: The CD will be finished this Autumn when Rick comes back and will be called ‘Smoke and Mirrors’ (unless we change our minds, you know what musicians are like...)
Lyric: Don’t I ever! More than you could possibly imagine, my darling. Just read my personal page. Where might the salivating and curious public get a tasting of this fabulous morsel for the mind, and when?
Richie: We are on Facebook, MySpace and various music sites. We primarily use MySpace at this time: http://www.myspace.com/cupboardwolves
Lyric: Two-parter question here: So the cd is only available via where? Love to hear where the cd was recorded and mixed, and if done out-of-studio, what programs were used ?
Lyric: I see “Pro-Tools” in your undoubtedly successful future. I find that most guitarists utilise the tube amp…with good reason. My father insisted upon them. With tube amps being quite linear (notably triodes) and pertaining the ability to use them in low distortion linear circuits, would you say Richie that you prefer them to solid state amps?
Richie: Yes - my favourite amp would be an Vox AC 30 (I had two but my then manager sold them to Brian Adams)!
Lyric: Then we now know it tis’ in good hands, do we not? What’s in future for replaced gear?
Richie: Currently I am interchanging my equipment and will probably get a ‘Marshall’ tube head preferably JCM range.
JEZ: I read a blog on Liverpool bands friends site from 'Greedy' (our singer/ co-songwriter) who was advertising for a 'drum legend' - always quite unnerving reading that!!!
Lyric: What? Unnerving? Good god man, you are a legend in your own time, let us call a spade a spade. If you don’t fully realise or accept that, well, I’m endorsing said statement right damned now.
Tony Dogherty works so hard for the local music scene, he got '1981' played on the Dave Monks show BBC Radio Merseyside.
Lyric: I knew this gang would be the setting of good things to come. Richie, how on earth did you meet up with Jez in the sea of musicians of ‘myspaceland’ ?
Richie: We met Jez through a MySpace website which acts as a forum/gig guide/help to the Liverpool music scene. Its run by Tony Dogherty (a great guy) located at http://www.myspace.com/liverpoolbandsfriends. When our drummer left, Tony posted that we were looking for a new one and Jez spotted it. He auditioned, got the job, recorded the tracks he sent you and played his first gigs with us in the space of a week.
Whom do you call upon as your muse(s) if any?
Lyric: PROFONDITY ABOUNDS!
GREEDY: All good healthy positive stuff. Outwardly, I'm always happy as a kipper.
Greedy: I've always sung, from way back when I was young and hair-free. I first got up and sang with a band aged 14 in Flannigan’s Apple
on Mathew Street by the Cavern. I hadn't strictly been invited but an Irish band were murdering “Hey Joe” and back then I could get pissed on a Fiver and I had spent £12 that night!!!
Lyric: Ha! Thank you for the rescue, no one murders “Hey Joe” and lives to sing about it, … on you go.
GREEDY: No formal training was ever involved, I was born to sing. It's never gone away, it just gets stronger. It is a natural ability but has taken almost 18 years of singing in bands and solo to find the inspirational Richie, Jez and Rick, which has kicked it on.
We seem to cross music genres mid-song which keeps me on my paws but has pushed me further and improved my vocal range massively. It's not all bass!! Singing with a great live band behind you is the best feeling in the world, music is reactive, interactive and unpredictable.
Lyric: Your eloquence absolutely rocks my world. Richie?
Richie: Yes - I did, music was always around me and my mother had been a broomstick bass player in a 50s skiffle group!
Lyric: Cool! So as the genesis of this effort in the songwriter category, your approach? Whom, if anyone or anything, do you call upon as your muse(s)? (Must ask of all bands, I am a well-supported muse myself to many artists!)
Richie: The songs are written by the group though as the longest serving member I've contributed more at the moment. It seems that we are all quite aligned musically, I actually 'hunted' Greedy down as a singer after hearing him perform solo acoustic sets and offered him the singer job as I knew he had the right voice for what we were trying to say.
Lyric: Jez, (drummer) You have the willowy approach to the drums like an early jazz great, Billy Cobham with a swirl of Keith Moon off drugs….
Lyric: It all makes sense now. The early fills and drum rolls, to a later fondness for drum machines, the floor tom and its rhythmic, tribal feel….(educating the readers here) So Rick, (bassist extraordinaire) I find that most guitarists and bassist utilise and have a warm preference for the tube amp…With tube amps being quite linear (notably triodes) and ability to use them in low distortion linear circuits, do you prefer them to solid state amps?
Rick: I, like the majority of guitarists and bassists, really appreciate the rich, smooth tone and natural, warm overdrive a tube amplifier provides. However, beyond the sound itself, for me there's also something very special about all analogue sound equipment. Whether it's a tube amplifier, record player or vintage analogue synthesizer, I think they have a sentimental value that you don't often find with digital equipment.
Lyric: I’m in the tube arena with my little flying V bass.
It's reliable, extremely flexible and has a wonderfully smooth but edgy tone which I now rely on all the time.
Lyric: Any early influences that stand out in your mind, and your own style’s definition?
Rick: I probably don't have the typical bassist mentality. In fact, most of what I do musically on the bass is not influenced by other bassists but by my experience as a classically trained pianist. As Richie would say, I don't think in terms of frets and scales... I think in terms of the overall chord the band is producing and where the root of that should be. My playing tends to lean towards arpeggiated lines without many scales, another hangover from piano playing.
I also like to utilise as much of the fret board as possible, which has led to a few melodic bass lines in high registers on the bass (e.g. Fear of Falling). To get back to the point, if I think hard about it, I suppose my main influences on bass would be Christopher Wolstenholme of ‘Muse’, Flea of ‘Red Hot Chili Peppers’ and when it comes to 'blow your socks off' riffs - it would have to Tom Morello and Tim Commerford of ‘Rage Against The Machine’.
Lyric: That’s what makes me love you. FRETBOARDS, FRETLESS, you got me babe! Aside from your outstanding bass performance in ‘Cupboard Wolves’, any artists you’ve played with that you are most proud of ? You demonstrate impressive and extreme musicianship.
Rick: Thanks, and I like the sound of ‘extreme musicianship’ - does that involve jumping out of a plane with a grand piano?
Lyric: YOU! I adore you already. Don’t even get me going on ‘x’ sports, I live and breathe for the seasonal thrill, no piano destruction , land it well!
Rick: As the youngest person in the band I am definitely the least seasoned, and “Cupboard Wolves” is my first major outing on the music scene. I don't think there are any artists for me to mention at this point but, hopefully if you ask me again in five years I'll have an impressive list!
Lyric: Gorgeous. And he’s humble. Every play an upright? They’re tough, nothing moves me like the resonance and warmth of an upright bass.
Rick: Yes, a few times. They're wonderful instruments. I once performed Dave Brubeck's “Take Five” on the piano with a jazz trio.
Lyric: I could smell the jazz in you. Brubeck was in face one of the keenest concerts of the thousands I’ve attended in my life…with ’Jay and Kai at Newport’, grab that LP if you can locate it, a rare one, I have it.
Rick: The guy on the double bass looked like he was having the most fun and had me interested straight away. I'd like to own one but don't have the space or funds at the moment. I mentioned getting an electric upright bass to Richie once - he gave me a rather concerned look, and then I forgot about it. But thanks for reminding me!
Lyric: Absolutely. I would recognize this anywhere, daughter of a jazz legacy that I am; There is an unmistakable jazz influence in your approach to guitar. Name a few who inspired you to reach this point of extreme musicianship!
My example ‘1981’, even though Ritchie wrote that riff!!!
Lyric: Thank you for the elaboration. It is vital to express the movement inside that inspires the outside…Any other tracks you’re working on at this time?
RICK: We currently have a cute 3-track CD called 'Give Us A Howl'. It was originally produced as a demo to send to promoters, etc, but we were quite pleased with the results and decided to sell it as well. The idea of the CD is that it definitely is not our first EP, but rather a 'Promotional and Fundraising CD'. The sales proceeds are all being pumped directly into buying studio time in order to professionally record our first EP in proper - working title 'Smoke and Mirrors'. We have our first recording session booked in for 6 August, which is also Greedy's birthday. So should be a good day! We hope to have our EP released this Autumn.
Lyric: And well deserved it is, Happiest returns of the day in advance, Greedy! Jez, how was the audition for “THE HUB FEST”?
JEZ: “The Hub Fest”, a big skaters/graffiti artists (teen fest) festival on the Albert Dock Liverpool would offer us the op to perform to 5000 people, I’m more worried about dropping my arse in front of sooo many people than I am of dropping my sticks haha, you know I’m only kidding - build us a stage and we'll give it loads.
So we arrive at the venue which is only about 3 miles from r/rooms, a place just up from the dock road which runs along the River Mersey.
Lyric: “Ferry cross the Mersey”! Excuse me there, had a moment of nostalgia. What a fright night.
JEZ: So we all get shown to a 'dressing room', all seems to be going well, we check out the stage and it looks well.........then some girl who is running the event says there must have been some mistake, as all the entrants must be 24 years or under lol, so to cut a long story short, no HUB FEST.
JEZ: We all find it hilarious and instantly shout 'PUB' lol, but Richie who set us up with the gig wasn’t so impressed and didn’t really see the joke lol, I think he was a little embarrassed as he set it up but didn’t read the small print.
Lyric: Gotta read that pesky ‘small print’…
JEZ: So it was straight to the pub were we all ripped the piss out of Ritchie for ages haha, myself saying next week we should audition for an s club junior event. He got the joke in the end and it turned out to be a great night.
Lyric: I’d be straight to the pub…and then some. You’ll be tellin’ this to the grandbabies one day. For my own entertainment, name me three things that you determine have saved ‘Rock-n Roll’ and riddle me three things have ruined it.
JEZ: ' Hmmm that is so tough, I don’t think its in danger that much it needs to be saved but.........I guess its watered down a lot now, we all know and loved the golden age.
Lyric: Honey, that ‘age’ stopped with Elizabeth I… Had to barb there. I am with you a thousand percent. The ‘Golden Age’ here ended in 1992. Sad, so sad. Not so much for me, I was there for it all !
JEZ: I guess a lot of it now is presented in a way that its - 'were' acceptable. I suppose though if I actually made a lot of money from this 'hobby' and woke up in some hotel room after a gig on a world tour, still f***ed from the night before with 4 ‘call girls’ cooking my breakfast I could answer it better!!!
Lyric: NAUGHTY! Back to question, you!
JEZ: What ruined it? The only thing I can think at hand is the death of Keith Moon, but does that keep the legend of rock n roll alive! I’ve just finished reading 'Dear Boy - The Life of Keith Moon', its really sad-sometimes I felt I was reading about myself, but with a hell of a lot less substance abuse and much more quality drumming!!
(laughing loudly) That’s the trouble though with myspace - or I think people in general, 'please listen to this' 'please leave a comment, then kiss my arse - all superstars they must be!!!!!
I trust you will share with me all about the revels of Greedy’s birthday, and keep in touch! ....

Lyric LaCeile, Los Angeles, California and Dallas, Texas runs the entire effort. My beloved Amy Vaughan has retired for numerous projects. ..NICE COMMENTS ON LYRIC'S WORK
LYRIC LaCEILE Joe Gande, Recording artist, New York City “Lyric is an extremely kind, generous, creative and beautiful soul... A wonderful guide and consultant in all things music and art. Always willing to help those she believes in and passionate about her life and work.I look forward to working with her in the near future.” May 28, 2009 Top qualities: Personable , Expert , Creative
Marvin Gershowitz, recording artist/tour management , Oregon “Lyric provides a caliber of work and thought of someone who grew up in her industry. This enables her to have many layers of understanding for the variety of needs in a complex industry. Her ability to connect with others provides links for her client in ways misunderstood and neglected save for the most successful. Lyric simply takes anyone using her service many steps ahead when most business services barely provide an inch of improvement. On the back of each of my business cards is a quote directly from Lyric's work.... What better recommendation than to use her work and words to reach my customers. Marvin F. Gershowitz aka: SpeedLimit SpeedLimit and the Violations” March 18, 2009 Top qualities: Great Results , Expert , On Time .!
James Walker , sole proprietor , 'Culture of Greed':
“Lyric is an incredible music journalist and writer. Her professionalism shine through in her thoroughness and her depth. I was lucky enough to have Lyric write a two part interview with me in a local Dallas magazine. The interview came out wonderful because Lyric took the time to ask the questions that had meaning beyond the typical fair. I cannot recommend Lyric enough in any endeavor as her drive, promptness, and ability are on par with anyone in her field. If you have any specific questions feel free to email me at cultureofgreed@gmail.com and I will gladly answer to further the cause of Lyric. She is simply wonderful.” March 17, 2009 ..

Lyric LaCeile, founder of UK ARTISTS "LIVE" inquired of her mother, { a great jazz singer and long-time assistant A & R with the KINGPIN of A & R at Warner Bros/Reprise with Dave Hassinger, in the halcyon years of Warner Brothers} (just GOOGLE "DAVE HASSINGER"!) what it took to get signed. She had to read bios and listen on the reel to reel demos back then , and asked what she throw into the trash first , she answered in crystal recollection:"If the demo didn't grab me in the first two bars it was history!"
On bios: She read the first two lines and the last paragraph, if it didn't catch her with that formula, it too, went south to the trash bin.
.. IF YOU REALLY WANT TO GET SIGNED, INKED, NOTICED, GET BETTER PAYING GIGS, TOURS and more, READ on.... DON'T BE A PONCE ABOUT YOUR IMAGE, TAKE CHARGE OF YOUR DESTINY. WHY DO SO MANY ARTISTS WILLINGLY COMMIT PROFESSIONAL SUICIDE WHEN IT YOUR RESOLUTION AWAITS YOU RIGHT HERE, RIGHT NOW??..
TESTIMONIALS ON LYRIC'S BIOS
Recording Artist JOHN MICHAELS:"I need all the help, direction, and input I can get at this point to get myself to the next level so I would love to have you do the profile and the press kit bio. I have great faith in your ability without viewing any testimonials and I will be happy to explain why I feel that way in my next longer email. I look forward to working with you. The pleasure will be mine as well.."(AFTER READING HIS PERSONAL BIO BY LYRIC: )"WOW!!!! You have really had an interesting life and I love your writing. I know that my bio couldn't be in better hands. I'm so glad that you're the one doing itand thanks for all your help! I found it fun and entertaining and I think it's pretty darn cool, so good job well done my dear!!"
DENNIS JENNINGS, COMPOSER: " You have done a fine job Lyric! ; I am more than happy with what you have written. I needed a subjective effervescent emotional view of my music and life and you have provided it. I have appreciated your effort immensely. I realize it is very difficult to write about a somewhat technical artist as myself, but you have done what I could not do. A musician cannot write or even comprehend how ones compositions and performances effect listeners and what conceptual and emotional references are drawn out."
FORMER MCA RECORDING ARTISTS, CYCLEFLY, NOW, "MAKO", International Frontman Declan:"Lyric, Its all good , great in fact , thanks! The bio is perfect, its been really cool working with you!!
DANA & ALLYSA, Founders of the successful New York-based garage band festival, "CAVESTOMP"" Salut! Somebody asked why I'm not doin' any promotional things at the present............The Real Lyric works and promotes enough for everyone! I love your recommendations, vive la Lyric! au revoir!"
MARVIN aka "SPEED LIMIT" , national touring musician and recording artist:"When Lyric tells you to listen to something, I listen. A forgotten hero of my early youth was an elderly gentleman Ralph J. Gleason* who had the fabulous ability to own a youthful ear. Younger but just as wise to aural information Lyric recognizes and searches out music which might cure the world with rhythm and melody new old experienced thrashing articulate innocent sensual that touch and remember we are connected in a way only music can do and does".
KRIS SEARLE, international recording artist, of Los Angeles and Hernes Bay, England: " So I showed the bio to Rich and Tony and they LOVED it... the descriptive words (which I LOVE!!) Lyric, it is wonderful!!

There are many sites offering unsigned talent this or that, but not one of them has the wisdom and the wit of John Barrow! John's sagacity:   Just to keep on going. Right through my time in pop it was difficult to keep focused and plugging away through adversity. There were plenty of lows. I said in the book that the music business consists of 90% lows and 10% highs. Years ago I asked Rod Stewart's guitarist JIM CREGAN for advice on how to achieve success in the pop world. He said , "Practise like f**k!"........it was blunt......but true.
