About me:
When eight very different young women came together in late December of 2002 none of them could have anticipated what they were about to create. Monika, Samantha, Kinga, Elizabeth, Colleen, Debra, Kristen, and Kelly were forever to be known as the founding sisters of Lambda Zeta Chi. These eight determined and extremely dedicated women set out to create a local sorority in hopes of expanding the Greek system at The University of Illinois at Chicago. Sisterhood, loyalty and trust were to be its three main pillars of beliefs. After countless hours of preparation and planning, LZC took its first steps in the spring of 2003 with the Alpha Class. With just four girls, however, the success of the sorority was questionable.
Most of the founding sisters have gone on to graduate leaving just a few behind to do so, but what they left behind won't soon be forgotten. In three short years Lambda Zeta Chi has transformed into a well-known and established Greek organization. Since the founding Class, 38 women have crossed over into their sisterhood. Although thoughts of failure once haunted this sorority, there are no longer doubts that LZC will be forever growing.
Today, Lambda Zeta Chi still remains the youngest sorority on campus. It is mainly a social sorority, but is a very active philanthropic one as well. Over the past few years, LZC has supported the Leukemia and Lymphoma society and the sisters have offered their assistance at special needs home for handicapped children. The chapter is currently working with Meals on Wheels, volunteering their Celebrity Chef Brunch every year. Any money raised from the brunch goes towards the cause in full. The sisters have also helped to clean up the beach by spending a weekend devoted to removing litter from Lake Michigan. The sisters are always looking for new causes and are willing to help out anything that sparks their interests.
Lambda Zeta Chi is and always will be dedicated to its community service, academic excellence, and above all else, establishing lifelong friendships through their unique bonds of sisterhood. Lambda Zeta Chi will forever be a part of every sisters' life, and possibly someday yours.
