  • Movies

    check out my flixster profile.

i tend to prefer fantasy, action, and comedy (like coffee and chocolate, the darker the better!). sci-fi and horror are good, too, but i have yet to find a scary movie that actually scares me. i enjoy dramas, indie films and documentaries, also, but when i watch movies, it's generally to escape reality, not wallow in it.

oh, and i am a sucker for anything involving Tim Burton.

  • Books

    check out my shelfari profile.

i LOVE to read. L.O.V.E. LOVE! i enjoy the process of reading so much that i can only think of 3 books that were so bad i couldn't finish them. as with pretty much every other form of entertainment, i enjoy and can appreciate just about any genre (except maybe romance novels). if i'm ever independently wealthy, i want to collect old books.

my favorite contemporary author is John Irving. i actually respect Irving so much as a writer that despite my deep-rooted dislike of Charles Dickens, i plan to re-read some Dickens works simply because i found out that Irving is influenced by Dickens, with the hope that i'll have a different perspective this time. and that's saying a lot, because i really. hate. Dickens.

margaret atwood is a literary goddess. stephen king is overrated.

the Harry Potter series will forever hold a special place in my heart, too! i have a love-hate relationship with Anne Rice. i haven't jumped on the Twilight bandwagon yet, but i am getting there. i actually ENJOY shakespeare. Oscar Wilde, Geoffrey Chaucer, and Edgar Allen Poe are amazing.
