| General | Music, music and more music....also play volleyball, love to watch sports and swim. | | Music | Too much to mention in this small square- my interests are diverse. Have a huge love for all things electronic (Tangerine Dream, Jean Michel Jarre, Klaus Schulze, Kitaro, Vangelis, Tomita, Ashra, Steve Roach, Vidna Obmana but also the modern strain of artists like Susumu Yokota, Ulrich Schnauss, M83 and Bent) and darkwave.
'Symphonic' music- Porcupine Tree, Steven Wilson/Blackfield, Yes, Marillion, Dream Theater, IQ, Pendragon and many more...
Indie- anything from My Bloody Valentine/shoegazers to singer/songwriters like Jose Gonzalez- anyone not as slick as James Blunt. Anything that's not too hectic or disjointed. Like the new Arcade Fire-album. Bands like Joy Division, The Smiths, Echo & The Bunnymen, The Cure, Siouxsie & The Banshees, New Order and Jesus & Mary Chain were crucial in my upbringing.
Other bands that defy categories- Klaatu, Not Drowning Waving/David Bridie/My Friend The Chocolate Cake, The Church, Dead Can Dance, Cocteau Twins, This Mortal Coil/Hope Blister, Wolfgang Press, His Name Is Alive (been a 4AD-collector from way back), Black Angels, The Blue Nile, Augie March, Art Of Fighting, Tool, Nine Inch Nails, Rammstein, Sigur Ros/Amina, Talk Talk, Bark Psychosis, Djam Karet, Explosions In The Sky, Mogwai, Godspeed You! Black Emperor and their many offshoots, Arcade Fire, Radiohead, Shriekback...
The folk-wave- Nick Drake, Fairport Convention, Richard Thompson, Vashti Bunyan, La Bottine Souriante, Planxty...
The Dutch: Q65, The Outsiders, Supersister, Alquin, Frank Boeijen, Golden Earring....many others.
The classics- The Byrds/Gene Clarke, Quicksilver Messenger Service, Tom Waits, Fleetwood Mac, King Crimson, Metallica, Pink Floyd, U2, Talk Talk, Bruce Springsteen, Bruce Cockburn...
Current newbie-favourites: Steve Adey, Winterlake, Working For A Nuclear Free City, My Latest Novel, Fionn Regan, Wolf & Cub and Band Of Horses.
| | Movies | Not so much a film buff, my favourite film would be Blade Runner. I also like Star Wars/Lord Of The Rings.
Other favourite films include The Godfather-trilogy, The Seven Samurai, Flying High, Traffic and Magnolia. | | Television | Mostly something funny like The Young Ones, Father Ted and old time quiz shows like Have I Got News For You and Never Mind The Bollocks.
Big fan of sf like Doctor Who, Star Trek and Blakes Seven...
Here in Oz like to watch RockWiz, Spicks & Specks, Mythbusters and, most surprisingly Top Gear and Iron Chef (don't have a car nor can I cook).
| | Books | Mostly fiction- a good sf (currently immersing myself in Dan Simmons and Tad Williams) or authors like Stephen King. | | Heroes | For starters Brian Eno, David Bowie, Edgar Froese, Jean Michel Jarre, Kevin Shields, Pixies and Robin Guthrie. |
