Obviously, reading (from my 'Like to Meet' group); French provencal cooking, jamming [as in preparing jams and confitures], buying and selling on eBay or going brocante-ing at local antique markets, gardening (especially roses), and of course, that which I enjoy the most, ... meeting friends.
There is music I like and music I don't like; it's not "the kind" of music.

Books
I have named many authors, already. I pick out books that look interesting or have been recommended by persons whose opinions I value (many of my dear guests steer me to new writers in this way). If I find a writer with an interesting and provocative style, I will continue to search out his/her works.
I am a grandmother [recently, once-again] who is quite prepared for retirement from a successful career of hosting and managing a French country Bed and Breakfast in the heart of Provence. My "chambres d'hotes" began out of my belief that I could better raise my four children by leaving my law practice, staying at home, and converting our house into a home-away-from-home for tourists. It has worked, I'm pleased to say, and it continues to be most rewarding.
Henry James, Colette, Paul Auster, Edith Wharton, and many of my other favorite writers .... but I am afraid that they might not turn out to be as interesting people as I have imagined through their books.
I have always enjoyed my career because it allows me to meet so many interesting 'real' people -- not imagined -- from so many interesting places. The people who visit this blog are similar, in a way, to the travellers who have visited my B&B.

Often what appears to be a difficult and very painful process, can in time prove to be the best outcome. My first husband got the lot as we had no children 'thankfully' and all our property was overseas, where I had no claim. A few years later I met a wonderful man and am now remarried for 13+yrs to a kind, caring and loving man. We have a daughter keira 11yrs, I am now happier than I ever could have imagined; the lesson learned, that money although very helpful can be made again, time wasted can never be returned.
Whatever happens will sting but in time you get over it, I promise. Jennifer
