Macabre Medicine is an independent horror film directed by Will Hartman and starring Ben Bostaph. The film is a nod to the old 70's Grindhouse horror/exploitation. Drawing a lot of inspiration from Quintin Tarantino and Robert Rodriquez's Grindhouse films as well as many films from the 60's 70's and 80's, Macabre Medicine is a fun gore fest for all the gore hounds with enough blood and guts to give any horror fans goregasms.
Synopsis : When wanna be doctor Heywood West (Ben Bostaph) becomes the new kid in town, people start to get suspicious by his odd behavior; disgusting stenches coming from his house, people turning up missing, and red stains on his lab coat... you could see why.
Heywood befriends a fellow anatomy student Jeff Sarris (Will Hartman) and at the same time turns Jeff's life upside down. After witnessing Heywood commit a murder, it's up to Jeff to either turn in his new best friend or drown himself in Denial, while in the mean time Heywood continues writing prescriptions... FOR PAIN!
Co- Starring Josh Lynch, Adam Clifton, Carrie Mullen, Shawn Phillips, MJ Kelley, Rich Airey, and Todd Michael Smith as Andrew Sarris. Macabre Medicine is filled with laughs, gore, and enough continuity errors to make you question yourself.
WARNING!!!! : This film was made with a lot of intentional mistakes to bring back that good ole' exploitation film feel. The movie itself shouldn't be taken seriously. Some people will see this movie and not understand it without reading this, a disclaimer will also be on the DVD to inform people about the film. If you are expecting a Hollywood movie, sorry this isn't it. This was very independently done with a very very low budget. This film is filled with intentional mistakes such as; continuity errors, bad editing, bad sound, bad direction, horrible dialogue and story, sub par acting... if that... joking that acting is actually fairly good.
An exploitation film is something that was done with a low budget and had to rely on adding things to the movie that you couldn't normally see in a Hollywood movie back in the 70's and even before the 70's. Exploitation films date back to the 30's. So they normally added a lot of sex, gore, and mindless violence to the film to help it sell. The films were usually rushed and made quick and sloppy to get the movie out. Because they usually had an X or NC 17 rating and didn't have money to advertise, the films weren't shown at local movie theaters, but at movie theaters known as Grindhouses. Also, due to there only being a few reels of the film made, and those reels being shipped from Grindhouse to Grindhouse, While accumulating some major wear and tear. This caused grain, cigarette burns and scratches on the film.

But don't take my word for it.

I've listened to Adam's Macabre Medicine theme about ten times now. It still makes me feel anxious like something bad is going to happen to me. It's great.
