About me: Maceo Wyro was born and raised in Finland; his parents were both musicians.
During his high-school years Maceo played keys in various new wave bands.
Later he traded his keyboard for Fender Bass and got into funkier side of things.
In 1992 Maceo got his first gig as a resident dj in now legendary Warsaw's club Filtry. His musical choice at this time was mainly funk, soul and hip-hop.
In 1995 Maceo moved to New York, where he lived for four years.
He worked as an in-store dj and Electronica section manager at HMV Herald Square Record Store on Broadway & 34th. After returning to Poland in 1999 Maceo started his own radio show at Poland's most popular youth station Radiostacja.
After three years he moved to Jazz Radio. He also worked as a music journalist for such magazines as Max, Fluid, Aktivist, LAIF and KMAG.
Since 2007 Maceo is a music director of Warsaw Silent Film Festival, where live bands play to silent movies.
Maceo cooperated with famous polish trumpet players Tomasz Stanko and Antoni Gralak. He also designed musical textures for various fashion shows and slideshows.
Maceo has played with such respected artists as:
Dego (4 hero), Afronaught & Seiji (Bugz In The Attic), Alex Attias, Alex Barck (Jazzanova), Rainer Truby, Shuya Okino (Kyoto Jazz Massive), US 3, Richard Dorfmeister, Howie B, Jon Carter, Michael Reinboth & Joseph Malik (Compost Records), King Britt, Ursula Rucker, Zero db, Gotan Project, Alex Kid, Slope, Mad Mats, Simbad and Mark de-Clive Lowe.
In february 2002 Maceo participated in Red Bull Music Academy in London.
Later that year the Innocent Sorcerers collective was born .
They released two 12” singles for London based Fluid Ounce Records (“Believe & See” feat.Joseph Malik and “Anthem”), a rework of Slope’s “Find Our Love” for Berlin’s Sonar Kollektiv, a highly acclaimed single "One Dollar Race" for Raw Fusion Records, as well as "Twos" 12" for Pulver
Recordings (under Telesfor disguise). The late IS remixes for Sistars & Koop were released on Compost Records.
Maceo's mixtapes have been featured on Soulsearchin' Compost Radio Show, Jazzanova Radio Show, Futureboogie.com, Beyondjazz.net.
The Sorcerers mixtape was aired on Gilles Peterson's Worldwide in february 2007.

Maceo describes his dj-ing style as GLOBAL DANCE FUSION. His musical taste is strongly rooted in black music - soul, jazz, funk and hip hop. He has much respect for the old school, as well as the new school. Nu-jazz, broken beats, tech-soul & deep house are also among his favorite styles. Maceo's mixing is very diverse, it's all about blending different rhytmic patterns in order to keep people surprised without loosing the vibe. Musical journey from pyramides to spaceships, where past, present and future become one.

Stanisław Ignacy Witkiewicz, a.k.a. "Witkacy" [1885–1939] was a Polish painter, illustrator, and photographer, playwright and novelist, philosopher, art theoretician, and critic; member of the first-ever Polish group of avant-garde artists known as the Formists; author of the aesthetic theory of Pure Form; creator of the Firma Portretowa (Portrait Company). He was the son of painter, architect and art critic Stanisław Witkiewicz. His godmother was the internationally famous actress Helena Modrzejewska (aka Modejska).
Shortly after Poland was invaded by Nazi Germany in September 1939, he escaped to eastern Poland. Following the Soviet invasion of Poland on September 17, 1939, Witkacy committed suicide.
Video documentation of a performance piece by my friend Nate Kassel who rode around on his bike slapping high-fives to people who were trying to hail taxi cabs in NYC. Enjoy!
