The MacGillicuddies is a seven-piece band from the Ithaca area exploring new and old zydeco stylings along with electric old-time and roots-rock originals. The band includes accordion player and vocalist Thor Oechsner, scrub board-vocalist-trombonist Emelie Peine, Kai Schafft on old-time claw-hammer and flat-picked banjo and vocals, lead guitarist and singer Eric Yettru, and rhythm guitarist and singer Albert Capista. Rounding out the rhythm section is bass player Amy Guptill and drummer Mark Taylor. From four-part harmonies to the tightly woven instrumentals, the music of the MacGillicuddies is a driving, dance-groove exploration of the ragged edge of American roots music.
