Ma'China is een Haagse/Almeerse/Utrechtse band, die sinds 1991 bestaat. Ma'China maakt een eigenzinnige cocktail van rock en funk met verrassende vleugjes van alles en nog wat. Het resultaat is een krachtige sound die zeer afwisselend en toch herkenbaar is. De band treedt op met eigen nummers, maar op zeldzame momenten bouwen de leden van de band bekende songs om tot typische Ma'China-juweeltjes..... Ma'China heeft een gemixte studio/live cd ..(Between a Madman, 2007).., 2 mini CD's ..(2 Fish In A Bowl, 2003), See The Smoke, 1999).. en een live-CD ..(Life On Mars, 1998).. in eigen beheer uitgebracht..... ..Live.... Live moet het knallen, vindt Ma'China. Een jury van een Zuid-Hollandse popcompetitie omschreef een live-optreden van Ma'China eens als volgt: .."Zeer positief is de frisse, enthousiaste uitstraling van de band. Ze weten hun muziek goed over te brengen op het publiek."...... De zanger slingert Ma'China's maatschappelijke betrokkenheid met kracht de zaal in. De gitarist wisselt funky, percussieve partijen af met 'walls of sound' a la Hendrix. De tegendraadse baslijnen van de bassist zijn ritmisch en vormen een hecht samenspel met drums en gitaar. De drums zijn speels en leggen een sterk swingende basis. De toetsen ondersteunen subtiel, maar kleuren onmiskenbaar het geluid van de band..... ..Podia.... Ma'China speelt op poppodia, festivals, in café’s en incidenteel op verjaardagsfeestjes. De band heeft in de loop der jaren op diverse locaties in de Randstad gespeeld, maar ook kleine tours van de Apenheul tot in Duitsland stonden op het programma..... Zo speelde Ma'China o.a. op de poppodia: Paard (Den Haag), Boerderij (Zoetermeer), Winston Kingdom (A'dam), Stairways to heaven (Utrecht), Het Kasteel (Alphen a/d Rijn), Bastille (Schoonhoven), Atlantis (Alkmaar), en o.a. op het Open Dakfestival, Zeeheldenfestival, Beachbattle, Huygensparkfestival en Koninginneslag. Ma'China vindt optreden altijd een feestje. Live komt de band dan ook het beste tot haar recht. .. .. ..Ma'China's Sound.... Ma'China is a dutch band that was founded by René Duurkoop and Henriët van Rossum in 1991. The band plays its very own mixture of rock and funk with all kinds of musical influences. This results in a powerful sound that is both variable and consistent. Ma'China typically perform their own songs, but once in a while the band transforms well-known songs into the Ma'China Sound..... Ma'China recorded a mixed studio/live cd ..(Between a Madman, 2007).., 2 single cd's ..(2 Fish in a Bowl, 2003, See the Smoke, 1999).. and a live cd ..(Life on Mars, 1998).. and a host of demotapes during the years. All these were published by the band itself..... ..Live.... Although recording and producing is great, Ma'China's strength has always been in playing live. A jury once said about a Ma'China gig: .."The fresh and enthousiastic apearance of the band is very positive. They really know how to get their music accross to the audience."...... Ma'China's music evolves in the rehearsalroom in an organic way through jamming and sculpting. This process continues on stage. A Ma'China gig is really about musicians communicating with eachother and the audience..... ..On Stage.... Ma'China plays practically anywhere. The band played on some of the major stages in Holland, but also in bars and sometimes even on birthdayparties.....
