Machine aka Steve Ricardo, born in the city of Madrid SPAIN, has been playing guitar since the age of 12. He started learning from a friend in elementary school who brought in a guitar for the class. He first picked up the bass, but his Grandmother who in her youth was a Flamenco guitarist and attended school with Andre Segovia in Spain convinced him otherwise.
By the age of 16 he was ahead of any of his friends that played. In 1990, Machine answered an ad for “Guitarist Wanted” in a Seattle magazine. The band was MESSIA. That move started his journey that took him through the 90’s on a roller coaster ride of a lifetime of memories with tours across the planet, until the untimely death of their singer.
The result that followed MESSIA’s demise was the birth of Machine’s 1st band CORNUCOPIA formed in 1995. Cornucopia recorded 4 albums and performed on 3 US Tours with such acts as Death Angel, Prong, 36 Crazy Fists and many more. In early 2000, Machine met Zakk Wylde (OZZY, BLS) while he was in Vancouver and took some private session with him (though Machine called them “Pointers”) Cornucopia disbanded in 2004, after a long battle with management decisions and member changes.
During the next few years, Machine went on to record with such bands as “Live She Cries” and “Another Circle” both carrying writing duties and as a Session Guitarist. In early 2005, he became lead guitarist for a local “Bad Boy” band Wreckin Crew. Wreckin Crew opened up for Skid Row, Noise Therapy, LA Gunns…etc. During his time in the band, Machine took the band on 2 US West Coast Tours and even having them perform at the world famous WHISKEY A GO GO and the CAT CLUB amongst others. Machine recorded a full-length album with the Wreckin Crew in late 2007 and has since then moved on to pursue other musical avenues.
Since playing, Machine has acquired multiple styles of eclecticism due to being in several different types of bands that have broadened his playing capabilities. Machine has all of his own professional touring gear and passports (Canadian and European)
As of fall 2007, Machine has challenged his own fate and has gone SOLO. Producing 2 SOLO Albums in the span of 3 months. Allowing his hidden talents to surface. In these albums, Machine takes a step into the Instrumental genre, following his long time Guitar heroes like Satriani, Vai, John5 and of course Zakk Wylde. With the release of “NUMBER 7” his 1st of two, Machine also picks up support (endorsements) from companies like COFFIN CASE, DUNLOP Strings and MARSHALL AMPS. Now, Machine’s 2nd album turns a full 180 degrees… With his love for old school horror flicks and help from his friend/Producer Dan Walton “Sounds That Go Bump In Your Head” is an eerie mind twisting evolving audible journey that challenges the boundaries between experimental guitar and textured sounds that come to life on the main screen. Many of the tracks recorded can be heard in the new Dan Walton Production “BIND” to be released in summer of 2008. Machine’s personal quote: “I want the world to HEAR my music on screen, and remember it…because of a good SCREAM”
