Machine Complex has existed in many forms for over 15 years. It has been called Lilly, Roy James and the Tire Fire and Lolo Cantu. But no matter what it has been called, one thing has always remained a constant; it is the intellectual merging of brothers Mike and Ken Baum. Initially just a way for them to practice their respective instruments, their compositions have progressed through styles and complexity never staying any one way for long. Whenever a new idea for a song appears to either of them they quickly hire in musicians to help them bring life to the concept. Having played with some of the best musicians in town (Dustin Textor - Fatal Mishap, Bubba and Bone - I am Frankie Scrapmetal among others) the current line-up is the most coherent and driven group of musicians they've assembled to date. Combining the Baum's lust for intricacy with an Industrial sound has yielded a sound like none other. This sound, although unique, was incomplete until Caitlin Piper and Matt Logue were added to the mix. Caitlin's incredible Jazz voice and profoundly advanced sense of melody combined with Logue's bone crushing yet surprisingly light hearted drumming brought Machine Complex to a level that is unparalleled. Ken has sadly left the project to pursue other career paths but this legacy lives on in the music and he is sorely missed. Despite this the Machine is on and running at full power. If you know them, be happy, if you don't, you will. The wolf has come down from the north, and your tiny village is safe no longer. Recently the band has expanded their skills into writing for and producing other musicians. Check back often as they will be showcased on this site!
