About me: Habitat for Humanity is an international non-profit Christian housing ministry. Its primary mission is to eliminate poverty housing in our world.
Macomb County Habitat for Humanity is the local, county-wide affiliate of Habitat International. Our goal is to make decent, safe shelter in Macomb neighborhoods a cause for conscience and action. Arm-in-arm with generous and supportive individuals, churches, schools, businesses and corporations, Macomb County Habitat has been building houses with Partner Families since 1993.
We believe a hand up - not a hand out - is the way to improve lives and communities.
Where does Habitat for Humanity operate?
Habitat is a worldwide, grass-roots movement. There are more than 2,100 active affiliates in 100 countries, including all 50 states of the United States, the District of Columbia, Guam and Puerto Rico.
What is the connection between Habitat for Humanity International and Macomb County Habitat?
Habitat for Humanity International provides information, training and a variety of other support services to Habitat affiliates worldwide, such as Macomb County Habitat. Habitat work, for the most part, is accomplished at the community level by the affiliates. Each affiliate coordinates all aspects of Habitat home building in its local area -- fund raising, building site selection, partner family selection and support, house construction and mortgage servicing.
Where does Macomb Habitat build?
We build wherever we can find decent, affordable land. Our Habitat homes to date are located in Roseville, Warren and Clinton Township. Using donated and/or low cost land helps keep our housing costs affordable.
