Mac - Tire of Skye Pipes and Drums (pronounced mack-tea-ray) is Albuquerque's newest bagpipe band. Founded in August 2007, this is a dedicated group of individuals who want to further Celtic knowledge and music and have quickly become a sought-after performance group. Under the direction of Pipe Major Suzanne "Aden" Lumb, Pipe Sergeant Nate Lorenz and Drum Sgt. David Mascarenas, the band has become well known for it's unique sets, classic Scottish marches, contemporary compositions, and ancient Irish ballads.
The band is proud to offer free instruction to students of all levels. Teachers include international competitors, former military pipers, and award-winning professionals. Mac-Tire of Skye teaches the traditional methods of becoming a well-developed and knowledgeable piper. Standards are high and getting there takes practice, but there is always top instruction to help any student along the way at their own pace.
The band welcomes experienced pipers and drummers to join the ranks.
Mac-Tire of Skye Pipes and Drums holds student lessons and rehearsal every Thursday night at 6104 Taylor Ranch Rd NW from 6:30 - 7:30 (for students) and 7:35 - 9:00 (band rehearsal).
A Bagpipe maintenance "Clinic" and further practice take place Saturdays at 1:00 at 913 La Veta Dr NE.

Greetings, and kudos on the Burn's night celebration at the Pyramid, to all in Mac-Tire of Skye Pipes and Drums!!!! Great job especially, for a new PIPE and DRUM band!!! I uploaded some videos that Robin took off my wee little digital camera. Not the best quality, but not too bad either....I will have to work on getting a "real" video cam, as the best is yet to come!
